i'm in the process of gettin' a Zum D10 1983 model
how easy is it to change PedalSetUp on 'em ?

Does not get much easier than that.
I only have a S12 7+7 ZumSteel and I more or less removed/reinstalled all pullrods (total of 30 rods) in less than one day. Just make sure you have new strings on before you start to position rods and syncronize pulls.
Start w cross-shafts closest to changer and install raises first. Figure out how many raises you have on each string before installing pullrods to avoid crossing rods.

Made a couple of changes on my '86 Zum, very easy.
[Edit: I might add that my Zum is my first real PSG.]

You are going to love that Zum. I am blessed with two Zums, a 93 and an 03. They are easy to make changes on.
I hope you keep your Sho-Bud. I had one just like yours and in a moment of weakness sold it. |

Since this horn will be crossing the Waters i want to make sure about doin' the changes myself.
it's being changed from Day to Emmons before it leaves but i'm sure i'm gonna want to try a few changes

There is information on re-rodding a Pedal Steel Guitar on the Carter website.
Click on "Steel Guitar Information Resource". There is a blank chart to print out also.

will work for your E9 that Bruce sent me with

Chuck my fax is not working at the tambien - (time being)
can you email it ?
i spent some time this morning figuring out the mechanics on this Zummy and i was'nt put off.
i switched the A and C pedals around no prob
(Day to Emmons)
Looks like it's all in the "fingers"
the whole trick is to get the fingers out so i can place them elsewhere.
in order to do that i gotta get the rods out.
so basically it's a rerod job Right ?
Then i'm gonna have to modify 2 KLs.

Well i managed to change the knee levers around so everythang is A-OK
i wish to thank you all again for your help and support.
one last question : since the C6 pu is a single coil and hums could i replace it w: a BL710 or a double coil True Tone ?

| The '96 Zum uni I just got needed some new changes to get my setup. I had to add a LKR and move the LKV and LKL. With a little careful drilling of new screw holes, this came off okay. I also had to add several new pulls to existing pedals and knees. Bruce sent me the new kind of bell crank. This is one of the most convenient and easy to change bellcranks in the business, and I wish I could change all of mine. I continue to believe that Zums are one of the best thought-out pedal steels in the business, and also one of the best looking. |
