Hi Drew , good to see your post. Looks like a good setup.
Here is a good Extended E9 setup with 5/5 that might work for some guys.
<font face="monospace" size="3"><pre>
LKL LKV LKR 1 2 3 4 5 RKL RKR
F#
D# D D C#
G# A
E F F# D#
B Bb C#
G# A A#
F# F
E F D F# D#
C# D
B C#
G# A
E C# F
</pre></font>
It's not perfect but will do the job with fewer pedals and knee levers......al <FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Al Marcus on 23 October 2002 at 08:53 AM.]</p></FONT>

Drew,
Here is the basic (first attempt) set-up I am using. I have 3 levers in the "not decided" category. The "i" on the knee levers denotes "inside location" on the clusters. I will update this as it takes shape.

Since everyone's doing it, I might as well post mine:

Pedals 1 and 5 are optional and experimental - I only use them for special effects and could play without them just fine. The middle 3 pedals and the 5 levers are pretty much what I've been using for over 20 years. A few years back I swapped LKR and RKL. I like it best the way it is now.

I checked out your 13 string tuning. That's pretty much what I have. I don't have the low D string and a couple of the pedals are shuffled up a little but it's essentually the same thing. I agree with you, I love it.

Bengt Erlandsen asked:
"Drew
Could you please explain which strings/notes you play to get the V mi ???"
WHOOPS. Thanks for pointing that out, Bengt. I could accomplish the Vmi with the 2nd string lower. I guess I misunderstood what you were using the change for.

Yep, the 2nd string lower controls the 3rd of the Vchord.
One use for the F#-F on 1st string is: with Apedal down & F#-F play strings 5 2 4 1 3 in that order and back again and you have the notes Root 2 b3 3 5 which due to fingering can be played pretty fast. If you don´t have the F#-F change and want to try this change (or any other single string lower/pull) just detune the respective string to the desired note and use tip of bar to play what was the original note and slide back to hear how any change would sound like. For the pull just use tip of bar on any string you like to try a pull on. This of course works only in open position but it is faster than go underneath the guitar and change the mechanics and it will give you an idea of what "so and so" raise/lower will do.

I played U-12 for a few years and then decided to go back to 10 string E9.
Kept the B on 9 and G# on 10.

Very good, Tom. Sometimes I use a 10 string pickup, but I have to be careful because I keep going down to the 11th string with pedals down, for the low root. Some people lower their 10th string B to A on a 10 string to get that note. I've always found that low A to be very useful.
Beginners who are planning to go to a U-12 someday should consider your tuning. That way they won't have to "unlearn" the D string when the time comes.

I can't fix that. I think it's caused by one of the charts being too wide, and I don't know which one. Try reducing your browser's font size, or set your computer screen to a higher resolution.
Sorry.
