New Continuous Hour of "Swingin' West"- M Gross on

Post by Mike Gross »

The March edition of the recorded continuous airing of "Swingin' West" has just come up on the Internet on twangtownusa.com. It will be on 24 hours a day seven days a week, over and over, for the entire month.

There is no specific theme for this month, March, just a lot of great music. Among the sounds you will hear will be from new CDs by the wonderful songwriter, Chuck Cusimano as well as another Ft. Worth area artist, Randy Brown and Beau Renfro from a new one on Stardust.

You will enjoy steel guitarists Tommy Lopez & Amarillo, Don Sulesky, Rick Alexander and the legendary Leon McAuliffe and his Cimarron Boys from Western Swing history.

Also heard are The Jazzabillies with Jimmy Queen in the spotlight from Missouri, the fantastic River Road Boys with Jim Johnson on vocal and Reid Wells and Segovia 1862 both from Texas. Enjoy the awesome Time Jumpers and Grammy winners, Asleep at the Wheel with super fiddler Jason Roberts on vocal. There is also a Western Concert with Monte Hale from Western Music history and Jim Garling and Rodger Maxwell for their recent CDs. The show closes with Fred Spears and the Prescott Playboys doing the show closing theme.

The recorded edition of "Swingin' West" can always be heard by clicking the mouse on the appropriate spot on the bottom of the home page of the "Swingin' West" web site, www.swinginwest.com

Thank You!

Give a listen to this month's show as it's another great one by Mike.
Lots of steel and old time swing standards on tap.

Rich,

Thanks so very much for the kind words and the listen. If I knew that you were out there listening I would have included something from your wonderful CD Rich Lester and Friends.

I tried to click on the "listen now" link and I get another program that doesn't sound like "swingin west" to me. What happened to "It will be on 24 hours a day seven days a week, over and over, for the entire month". The "recorded" link gives me a "this is not a valid url" message. What's up?

Andy,

You must have by accident hit the "Listen Now" link for the "Live show." This is a link to WVOF-FM on which my live show runs from May 1 through November 30 on Friday afternoons. What you want to click is below that for the "Recorded Show."

I sure hope that works OK.

Not sure what's happenin. I still get the "requested url not valid" message when I click on the "recorded" link. I'll have to mess with it some more. BTW, how can I get a copy of Jody and Hank's "Little Red Wagon" to listen to?

Andy,

Do you have Real Player downloaded on your computer? You need Real player to bring up www.twangtownusa.com where my recorded show is on and linked to.

I have played the Texas Panhandle Band's version of "Won't You Ride on My Little Red Wagon" many times on my "Swingin' West" broadcasts. It would be my pleasure to put it on one of my live "Swingin' West" broadcasts that will start up again on May 2. Just mention the day and I can do it. It would be my pleasure.

Like Mike said set you recorder to record the show or that set.
You'll know when it will be played as Mike puts his playlist on his site for you to follow the show.
This is what I do each week when his show is on.
I record his show using Goldwave and edit it from there.

Well, that didn't last long... I keep gettin this message again (Requested URL is not valid) when I click on either the "listen now" link or the "Mike Gross Swingin West" link on the TwangTownUsa site. Don't know why. Any clues? I got it to work a couple of times the other day though.

Don,

As always thanks so very much for the bump.

Andy,

I am wondering if you have downloaded the latest Free version of Real Player. There should be no problem with that downloaded. Otherwise, I can't figure it out.

Ok, now I'm on to something here. I can access "Swingin West" on my upstairs computer but not on my laptop so the laptop must have some kinda firewall thing goin on or something with the web browser. I've installed the latest version of Real Player on both comupters too. At least I can listen to it upstairs anyway... Thanks guys for all the help. I'll report back when I get er figured out. Meanwhile, back upstairs for some "Swingin West" tunes.

Andy,

That is great news that you can access on one computer at least and thanks so much for the listen.

Yes, a firewall can block out streaming and if that is the case you can temporarily disable it while listening to a stream.

A bump to the top for Mike.

Andy,
I use "Real Alternative" to log onto Mike's Twangtown and I have no problem.
You can download that from Google.
Just do a search for it. It works great and is a stripped down version of Real Player.
