So pleased I had the chance to meet and listen to Mr John for an evening at Legends in September 06 never realised we would lose a super hero so soon, it was the highlight of my visit to the USA and I feel priviliged to have had that chance, now a treasured memory.

I just listened to this again for about the 100th time.
It brings a tear to my eye and that's hard to do.
That man was good.
The best most likely, I think he was.
Now back to the present.

Just bumping this back up to the top so it does not disappear. I have to watch this at least once a week. John was the best, at least in my book...

I had the pleasure of seeing John perform three times. The first was in Binghamton, NY where he appeared in concert with Vince Gill. A few years later I saw him at the annual PSG Association show in Norwalk, Ct. Then, I saw him live in Nashville with the Time Jumpers in the summer of 2006. During intermission I spoke to him, and he chatted with me like we were old friends.
I'm glad his music lives on in his CDs and the wonderful Time Jumpers DVD. I you haven't got this DVD, it can be ordered off John's web site. Hope the Time Jumpers win a Grammy for this song tonight...

As I said...so glad that John considered me as friend.......spent a lot of time with him in Nashville,,St Louis and Dallas

As for Dawn Sears...what a Magic voice and control of it......I think last year she was on the road so we missed her...but the previous year my wife gave both her and the Blonde lady (sorry...forgot her name.....a littlr Koala Bear each as a token of how muched we loved the whole sound!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely the best I've ever heard that song played and I must admit that I'm glad none of my Police buddies walked in near the end cuz the whole front of my uniform had tears all over it.

For the past two days I've been listening to this song and reading this thread on the Forum. I cannot add anything to all the acclaim posted here but I do have a question.....

With all the so called musical expertise in Nashville, why is it we are just now seeing such a voice come to the fore ?? I can acknowledge the tears with my own for it simply cannot be helped in face of such musical perfection.

Can it be that there is no longer a viable market for such talent ? Does everyone prefer the dark side of the music world and ignore the beauty ? Is it really true that beauty is only in the eye of the beholder ? Are we not also a part of this reversal of values by not asking to be heard ??

Regards, Paul

I think this video has been watched so many times on my laptop that it is beginning to be burnt into the screen.

I get a tug inside my gut everytime I watch 3:18 - 3:19. I believe those two seconds say everything about John. This is the look that I will forever remember John when I met him in Lakeland a few years back.

I look forward to seeing and hearing him again when I get to Heaven.

Paul,
In answer to your question, today it is not about the talent and the music... It is about sex appeal and what will sell to a young audience.
"Sweet Memories" as recorded by the Time Jumpers was nominated for a Grammy, but it didn't win. I don't know why. There was no song recorded in the past year that was better than this! Every one of the musicians on that stage is a master musician, and the vocals and vocal harmonies are superb.
The way this band works together, and the fun they have making their music is a pleasure to see and hear. BUT, if they recorded a CD, they probably wouldn't sell enough copies for the "big record companies" to think it was worth while.
Well, enough of my rant... I'm glad they made the DVD so I can enjoy them time and again.
