I had the pleasure of seeing John perform three times. The first was in Binghamton, NY where he appeared in concert with Vince Gill. A few years later I saw him at the annual PSG Association show in Norwalk, Ct. Then, I saw him live in Nashville with the Time Jumpers in the summer of 2006. During intermission I spoke to him, and he chatted with me like we were old friends.
I'm glad his music lives on in his CDs and the wonderful Time Jumpers DVD. I you haven't got this DVD, it can be ordered off John's web site. Hope the Time Jumpers win a Grammy for this song tonight...

For the past two days I've been listening to this song and reading this thread on the Forum. I cannot add anything to all the acclaim posted here but I do have a question.....
With all the so called musical expertise in Nashville, why is it we are just now seeing such a voice come to the fore ?? I can acknowledge the tears with my own for it simply cannot be helped in face of such musical perfection.
Can it be that there is no longer a viable market for such talent ? Does everyone prefer the dark side of the music world and ignore the beauty ? Is it really true that beauty is only in the eye of the beholder ? Are we not also a part of this reversal of values by not asking to be heard ??
Regards, Paul

I think this video has been watched so many times on my laptop that it is beginning to be burnt into the screen.
I get a tug inside my gut everytime I watch 3:18 - 3:19. I believe those two seconds say everything about John. This is the look that I will forever remember John when I met him in Lakeland a few years back.
I look forward to seeing and hearing him again when I get to Heaven.

Paul,
In answer to your question, today it is not about the talent and the music... It is about sex appeal and what will sell to a young audience.
"Sweet Memories" as recorded by the Time Jumpers was nominated for a Grammy, but it didn't win. I don't know why. There was no song recorded in the past year that was better than this! Every one of the musicians on that stage is a master musician, and the vocals and vocal harmonies are superb.
The way this band works together, and the fun they have making their music is a pleasure to see and hear. BUT, if they recorded a CD, they probably wouldn't sell enough copies for the "big record companies" to think it was worth while.
Well, enough of my rant... I'm glad they made the DVD so I can enjoy them time and again.
