Serial number is 1002 with letters ST stamped about an inch to the right of the serial. If anyone knows what year this guitar was built please chime in.

Jim Palenscar - great eye! Right on the money on the copedent. I'm not an Emmons expert, but Mr. Knowles said he thinks it's a factory SD10 based on prefix of the serial number. I will post a serial number shortly, so anyone who knows can comment on what year they think it is.

Emmons PP SD-10 4x4

Beautiful Emmons Push Pull 4x4 SD10. MSA super sustain pickup. This guitar sounds, plays and feels amazing. Vintage Emmons tone to the bone. It was recently completely gone through by Billy Knowles at Steel Guitars East, a widely regarded Emmons guru. Mr.Knowles added and replaced all the necessary ...

Mike, great work here! I have a question for you. After removing all the gunk and dirt from the steel undercarriage parts (cross shafts, two hole pullers etc), did you apply any sort of rust prevention treatment to those? I used a wire brush mounted to a grinder and it makes quick work of cleaning t...

My Bud is 12.5" deep, so there's definitely no room for pedal bar. With your Mullen being 2" smaller, there should be just enough room to house the pedal bar. Just have to be super clever with foam placements and divider thickness. Your back will thank you!

I second on a SKB-3614-6 case, John. It really cuts down on weight, but is solid as they get and weatherproof too. I have my double neck Bud in one, made my own foam lining, and as Ian mentioned, legs and pedal bar have to go in a separate soft case. But I did see that Brett Resnick fit his D10 Zum a...

As much as it hurts to see a vintage instrument unceremoniously dismembered like this, I don't think this guy is crazy. He likely cares much more about cold hard cash than he does about preservation of musical instruments. A poorly adjusted PP in ok shape with a homemade on-board effects added may b...

Barry,I've braised copper parts before, and joint looks very similar to that to my eye as well. Yellowish nature of the metal around a joint sort of points to that as well, since most welding consumables leave silver looking pools. I didn't realize braising
existed for steel.

Ron Pruter, you're correct. The guitar I'm restoring is a Sho-Bud Professional, which currently has a rack and berrel system. I've been collecting parts for some time now with an intent to convert the mechanics to a more modern Pro II style system which uses same changer as the Professional, same ro...

Lots of cleaning and polishing (by hand) of small parts, take extra care not to lose tiny snap rings or set screws. Once dropped, those tend to disappear forever. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1712/9821_20190928_201457_1.jpg https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1712/9821_20190928_201500_1...

Sho-bud full restoration

As promised in the earlier post I'll be adding some progress photos of my Sho-Bud Professional D10 restoration. Since I have very little time to dedicate to this project, progress will be slow, but I am determined to do a proper job and cutting no corners in bringing this beauty back to life. I will...

Thanks Ricky! You're the man! I think I have everything required sans a knee lever assembly or two, and I'm sure Michael will have what's missing. I even still have a few of the late James Morehead's parts in my stash. You are giving me the courage to upconvert this beast. Cheers!
