hi! supposedly Charlie Wilson played one here http://www.amazon.com/Vintage-Hawaiian-Music-Guitar-Masters/dp/B0000002RA and yes Sol is playing a Weissenborn on the cover of the Hollywood CD, and then again on page 6 and 12 of the booklet. The photo of him on the set of The Jazz Bride film looks like...

first recording of hawaiian steel guitar?
hi there,
i've been listening to a cd on document records entitled 'hawaiian rainbow: hawaiian music on edison', and was wondering what thoughts people had as to what is the earliest recording of hawaiian steel guitar?
unleashing the debate!

new weissenborn album 'man and the echo'

8-string pickup for New Yorker?
hi there,
I have a 1937 national new Yorker 8-string, the main pickup being a so-called "blade" pickup. It's great, but not as nice as the Supro split pickup in my 1940 new Yorker (6-string). Does anyone know if anyone makes an 8-string pickup (split perhaps?), I'm guessing not ?
Chris

hi there! this info is probably buried somewhere here, but was wondering if anyone had a circuit diagram / schematic for a 1937 national new yorker? this is the one with the hidden pickups, but only the one selector knob below the bridge, so a little bit simpler than the earlier version which has fo...

hi! was just wondering if any forum people here have (or know someone who has) an 8-string national new yorker lap? i'm looking for a late 30's model with the hidden pickups, but even a single pickup one with the "supro" pickup would be of interest to me!
