Gibson Console Grande with Case

Guitar is an 8/7 Sunburst probably dating from the late 1940s. To the best of my knowledge it is in original shape except that the tuning keys were replaced with Waverly retros to help keep it in tune. The 15 original tuning keys come with the guitar. I have owned the guitar for about 20 years. This...

Mr. Griffith:

I do not know how to determine the speaker type. If it helps the serial # is 9A-04189358. If you can tell me how to find the speaker model # I will be glad to look for it.

Fred, You are correct. Hoot Rains played on Love Song of the Waterfall and Indian Love Call as well as most of the early Slim Whitman Imperial records. Various others played after Hoot Rains and Curley Herndon left Slim Whitman and went on their own as "Hoot and Curley." Slim's pre Imperia...

I bought a NV 112 from Carter last spring at the Dallas show. After waiting about a month for delivery I set it up and noticed a hum that intensified with increased reverb. Called John Fabian who put me in touch with Peavy. Peavy sent me a UPS shipping way bill, UPS picked it up and delivered it bac...

For what its worth, I was one of those who got taken by Randy Reimer to the tune of about $100 a couple of years ago. Never got the parts I ordered although I did get several lame promises. I've gotten over it and only respond now in hope that others will be adequately warned about this guy.

Hoot Rains played a Gibson Console Grande. His guitar is now in the Blue Grass Museum in Marthaville, Louisiana. Who knows how he played the licks he played on the Slim Whitman records. No one, after he left Slim Whitman, could come close to duplicating his sound. As a matter of fact, how do any of ...

Slim Whitman recorded Indian Love Call in the studios of KWKH which, at that time, were on the second floor of the old Commercial Bank Building in Shreveport, LA. Hoot Rains played a Gibson Console Grande and Curley Herndon played lead guitar. Unfortunately Hoot Rains passed away about 5 years ago.

Dueling Banjos

I recently heard a recording of Dueling Banjos that featured a pedal steel "competing" with the banjo. The pedal steel clearly won the duel (what else). Does anyone know who was playing the steel and the name of the CD?
