Toots and the Maytalls
Just thought I'd chip in ! Played a session with Toots and the Maytalls back in 70's I think in UK, this went either to No 1 or very high in the charts. Reggae PSG very early ! Always remember the guitarist with the band saying - Hey take it easy man, I gotta play that on stage ?? No they never took...

UK import
Hi Roger- I have always travelled on tours etc with my guitar and amp, no duties, no problem ! BUT a couple of years ago I purchased my Zum S12 from USA, absolutely fine until it didnt arrive on time in UK, eventually finding out it was being held in customs until I forked out around five hundred qu...

Reggae Pedal Steel
This was recorded back in the mid 70's with Toots and the Maytalls! Now I'm not saying this is the best steel sound or the best playing but it fitted the session, and when released was a big hit around the world. Really enjoyed myself back then playing on sessions that broke new ground for the steel...

Keeping the urge to play
As Jim says, try doing a couple of PSG shows in front of 4/500 steel players and wannabees -he says that will get yer rear in gear-well I did just that a few times in the 80/90's and believe me Jim - my rear is still welded to the last seat I tried it on ??? Seeing as some player called the Big-E wa...

Any way that was my axe for over ten years, moved on to MCI- Carter-now ZUM S12. Still reckon that Classic was the best !...

Back aways in the 1970's and 80's to get a pretty close dobro sound on PSG. I used a Wah Wah pedal set at a certain point plus an ebonite (hard plastic) bar. Did many successful recording plus live gigs till the pot gave in on the pedal ! Never did quite repeat that early sound with a re-issue pedal...

Silly me Paddy-missed the build date, I was so excited I bought the guitar immediately !! Should arrive here in UK on Tues 7th !!
Can't wait - All I've got to do now is get used to 12 strings instead of 10 which I've been grappling with for 40+years!! Hey Ho ever onward !! Wish me luck !

Mike hi-from the UK! Just wondered if your Dad flew from an airfield close to us in Devon, called Dunkeswell ? The USAF flew Liberators from here hunting U boats during WW11. Just received my copy of Garys' new CD -superb touch-tone and the rest ! Judging by the cover though Gary has suddenly become left handed ? Unless of course another one of his talents is to be ambidextrous, as on the inside of the sleeve he has returned to 'normal' ? Hah! Actually I'm pretty sure Ga...

So sad to hear about Reece. I had the pleasure of meeting him in London in the 70's just after purchasing one of the best guitars ever-My MSA Classic. What a combination MSA guitars and Reece. What a truly great player he was. R.I.P. Mr MSA.
