Aha! Thanks, Bill--I see you are right. I finally found a list of her band members on her bandcamp page at https://charliemarie.bandcamp.com/album/ramble-on-2 . I miss the days when you could get all that information from the back side of the album jacket. By the way, is Eddie's last name "Lang...

Who's the steel player on Charlie Marie's new album?

Charlie Marie just came out with an album called "Ramble On", and it's quite nice work. Does anybody here know who the pedal steel player is? It's a great match for the songs.

I was finally able to get back together with the owner of this guitar yesterday. I cleaned it up a bit and put new strings on it. The back neck now has the C6 tuning and the front neck has E13. The instrument sounds great. Here's a better picture of one of the pickups: https://bb.steelguitarforum.co...

Wow, you guys are truly amazing! Scott, I'll ask the owner to bring the instrument back over so I can get a better look at the pickups. I bet you're right, though. I'll also see if I can find a serial number on the guitar. By the way, I saw your initial post before you deleted it. I loved the photo ...

I guess it's possible, but it sure doesn't look like it's been refinished. To me, it looks pretty much 100% original. The owner also has an amp that was bought at the same time, but I haven't seen that yet. The amp might help date the guitar.

Need help identifying this Epiphone (?) Electar D8

An acquaintance of mine brought by this D8 steel that his father had bought in Hawaii many years ago. There was also a stand for the guitar. I know that Epiphone used the Electar brand for their electric instruments during that time. But unlike the photos I've seen of other Electar steels, this one ...

How to string an Oahu Tonemaster?

I have an early 1950s Oahu Tonemaster that I bought some time ago but haven't used much. Can someone tell me the correct way to attach the ball ends of the strings to the bridge? I have seen photos of it done like this: https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1712/8108_IMG_0588_1.jpg But it's not cle...

Heh ... that's one problem. What I've run into more often is that the damn guitar player won't stop mindlessly noodling around long enough for me to hear myself tune up.

The vintage Sierras used nylon bushings, with a short one drilled to fit crossways over the pull rod to cushion the pull. It works great. My Sierra Crown series steel is from the 80s and shows no wear on the bushings. Here's a diagram from the Sierra manual: http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix150...

There's one aspect of the metronome method that I've never seen addressed by anyone. Your fingers are ballistic objects, with weight, inertia, and momentum. They behave differently when they're moving fast. Sometimes it's easier to play a lick fast than to play it slow. You see this all the time in ...

Styles for slow 3/4 ballads

I purchased BIAB 2016 for Mac a few months ago, so I'm pretty new to the software. I'm finding the styles very hard to navigate with their cryptic names. In particular, I haven't been able to find a suitable style for a slow country waltz. The waltz styles I've found all seem to be fast and/or piano...

Lee, my Sierra has slots like that. I used to try to align the ball ends in the slots, but they wouldn't stay aligned. I finally just quit worrying about it. I no longer think it makes any difference, and in fact, I've never had a string break at the ball end on that instrument.
