Re: Chetkins: w. Guyatone Lapsteel & Squier Tele
I always wanted to write a tune in "Chet-Atkins-Style". So here it is: "Chetkins" ! Recorded directly into a Zoom H4n (multi track mode, effect: Fender clean, spring reverb). Guitars: 1984 Squier Telecaster, 1970s Guya Conquerer Lapsteel. Backing Band: Band-In-A-Box :-) That abo...

Please help beginner out with bar slants?
I'm working my way through the Basic C6 and have heard that I'm supposed to have my thumb in the end for slants. Does this mean ALL slants? My thumb isn't so long, finding it easier to do forward slants by just holding the bar by it's barrel. Reverse slant, now that works easy with the thumb in the ...

All I can say is "WOW"!!!!
That's about the best thing I have ever come across on the internet, truly a treasure. Loved Don, and I think Chris Malpass is the greatest interpreter of true country music (or...Hard Country) that's come down the pike in a long, long time. We went to see Merle Haggard here in Kelowna B.C. last spr...

$1200 Gibson Console Grande double neck 7 and 8 string steel
Is this a good deal? I can't buy it but maybe one of you guys might be interested. It's Canadian dollars, so it would be considerably cheaper using USD.

Some good ideas here. Thanks a lot guys. I wonder how a Pbass pickup would work as it's split into 2 parts? Maybe they could be angled a bit to get the proper string spacing? The problem with buying online lately has been that when you add international shipping to Canada, customs duty, and the exch...

Where to buy "cheap" 8 string pickup
I'd like to build a starter 8 string sort of like the SX sixstring but with 8 strings, kind of a rough project. Is there an elcheapo Chinese pickup available. I will only use one pickup. I've been checking eBay but haven't found anything yet.

Can someone help a Newbie?
I'm trying to learn C6 lapsteel using Dewitt Scott's "Basic C6 Nonpedal Lapsteel Method"....on page 34 of the book the heading is More Runs and Fills. In the 2nd example (#13) you play the 1st and 2nd stings at fret 11...AND fret 10 on the 4th string ALL AT ONCE. How is this possible with ...

A Summer Place on C6 lapsteel?
Has anybody ever seen tab for this song? I'm pretty new to the instrument (working with some books/CD's/DVD's) and I thought this old tune would be nice and slow and not too hard to get down.
