Vintage MSA Classic XL D10- 8+4

Really nice MSA Classic XL d-10 up for grabs. Came from the original owner who had it sitting in the case for about 30 years! It’s all there and everything seems to work as it should. There are a few bumps and finish cracks on the body, but nothing too noticeable. Wanted to keep it as a second ste...

for sale Peavey classic 50 head with two 410 E cabs

This 2-channel, all-tube head packs a big punch and is perfect for twang rock, country, etc.. the two 410 cabinets allow you to run the setup in full stereo and get as weird as you want.. Missing the peavey front badge, which is a good thing. They look better without. Will Consider partial trade - L...

Pedal Steel Technicians

So,

I kind of hinted on this in my sho bud post below...

Is there any one good working on pedal steels up here on the east coast?

Is there any sort of ongoing list or directory of folks who work on steels?

Just a thought.

Guys,

First and foremost, thank you for the input. Now for the big question...

Who works on steel guitars in the Philadelphia / NY area?

I'm just gonna find someone good and let them give it the once over.

thanks again!

Sho bud Pro Help....

Hi, I am now the proud owner of a '73 Sho-Bud Pro S10 5 x 5. The #4 pedal hangs dead. I was told this was due to a broken bell crank. Any ideas on replacement or repair? Any good sources for Sho Bud parts? I am a pretty handy fellar, is this something I should attempt myself? Ready to get this thing...

Trade-O-Rama! Resonator, Lap Steel, Big Pics!

For your consideration I have two guitars I'm looking to trade... First off- Custom Handmade 6 string Lap Steel Guitar This guitar was a gift given to me, commissioned by my dear mother who thought this was a pedal steel. She paid 550.00 (not sure if that's over or under what a slide goes for) to ha...

I would not try to modify the starter or change the pickup. Practice more and your tone will improve. For the Franklin change I would just figure out how it works and learn how do it with bar moves. Save up for a better steel down the road. Thanks for the advice bob, my playing definitely is not at...

Ben,

Good to know you can tweak the starters a little bit if you got the time and patience! I know that a new steel is gonna be the answer to my needs. but it's also good to know i can play around with the carters settings to some extent if i decide to keep it as a back up.

Thanks!

JD i'm not trying to give you a smart a$$ answer but instead spending your time trying to reconfigure the guitar, your time would be better spent learning to use the right knee's Guess I should have phrased my question better.... NOT saying I'll never learn to use my right knee levers, I am in the ...

Carter Starter Upgrades?

Hello all, I own an older Carter Starter and have a few questions about possibly upgrading this thing. 1. At this point in my fledgling PSG career I rarely use my rkl and rkr. I am also obsessed with the franklin change. is there anyway I could mod either one of those knee levers to have the frankli...

My story is a little different. Back in the old days (1977) we put together a country band. We all loved country music but we had no steelplayer near by. It was between me and the other guitar player, which one of us should buy a steel. We were tossing a coin and I lost. Here I am stuck with these ...

Heres a good question... What was the first song (or short list of songs) that you heard that made you want to pick up the steel guitar... I'll go first Richard Buckner - lil' wallet picture w/ Eric Heywood on the steel Conway Twitty - linda on my mind w/ John Hughey Whiskeytown - excuse me if i bre...
