As an aside, Charlie has sold over 1200 of these things so it's obviously been accepted. I'm trying to think of other dobro and steel guitar accoutrements (sp?) that have that much of a market reach.

What happened to Bobbe Seymour's store. Did it survive after his passing?

Rob Ickes did a version on one of his earliest cd's. Don't remember the vocalist but did enjoy the version.

Carter vintage has a '53 t8 26 in scale for 1800. Gruhn guitars has a 22 1/2 in scale d8 for 1250. No legs tho

I don't think Gregg is building anymore but you can find 2 or 3 McKenna's at Gruhn Guitars. I think there was a 7 string along with 2 8 strings. $900 or $1000.

Tom, There's a company called Blue Chip Picks that you may or may not be aware of. They make guitar, banjo and dobro picks that are incredibly durable. As for Tom's video demonstration by Anderson East, they are opening for the Dixie Chicks on their current tour. So they are an up and coming band for those who haven't heard them before.

One of the D8 lap steels shows up in an article in the Fretboard Journal, #34 published last year. It's an article on Chas Smith, a metal worker in SoCal. It seems he bought it from Steel Guitar Nashville in the 80's or 90's. There's a picture of Smith holding the D8 in the article.

Yes. Not sure of the scale but it didn't look long enuf for a 26". P/u covers were black unlike yours. Had a toggle switch on the middle neck.

Went to the Tacoma Guitar Festival today. Tons of strats, teles and Les Paul. Lap steels not so much. There was a 53/54 Stringmast T8 that was there.
