Right out of the box I think the Twin is pretty good but like both Michael Britt's and Mike Holder's Little Walters a lot better (these are two different profiles). I've been using Mike Holder's for a while now, Those need very little tweaking for me. I'm happy with the Kemper stock fx. I have yet ...

David; keep scrolling and you’ll see a free Kemper steel amps post which has about 15 pedal steel amps profiled that your MD can put on a stick for you to use and they’re plug n play. Try The Webb amp it seems to be an easy sound to use. All these can be altered on the spot just like a real amp whi...

I don't, if anyone knows a way to get them I'd appreciate it. I'm looking to be as plug-and-play as possible.

Advice for stock Kemper profiles

I’m playing one of the NYC talk shows in a few days with a country artist. The production manager and MD want me to use a KPA rather than an amp. I have no experience with the Kemper. The MD is a guitar player and says he’ll bring some appropriate clean profiles with him on a USB stick, but I would ...

Also my setup right now is highly sensitive to level/high end; Goodrich to Brad Sarno octal preamp into the console for recording. Would never notice this going into a Twin or Peavey live. I think I've got it sorted, without doing the mod, thanks!

Yes, it's a Goodrich 120. I'll check out the hack, thanks. Also, the Peterson TB is supposed to be pretty pristine, I wonder if it's just putting more "wire" in my signal path that's causing the problem. P.S. Did a little experiment and used a short jumper cable instead of a long cord, and...

Level/tone loss when using Peterson StroboStomp HD

When I use the Peterson strobe the normal way (inline), even with the "true bypass" setting, I lose some high end, and the level/tone changes. I have a Radial ABY pedal with a tuner output, but even using that, I get some change to the level and tone. I have another ABY box, and it seems t...

resources in London

Does anyone know of a store in the London area that sells strings and other high-end accessories for steel guitar? Maybe one of the shops on Denmark St. ("Tin Pan Alley")? I'm Zoom-teaching a London actor how to play steel guitar for an upcoming film and finding sending everything from her...

looking for extra large fingerpicks

Hi- I am teaching an actor in the U.K. right hand technique so he can mime playing steel guitar in a film, and he has extraordinarily large hands and thick fingers. I got him a set of large ProPiks but am wondering if anyone makes a pick with a longer blade. With standard large picks the bands don't...

Where to find "Right Hand Alpha" in 2020?

I've watched the first segment for free on YouTube and I think it's just what I need. And this pandemic is a great time to rid myself of old bad habits! Where can you find this now? eBay???

Repair/tech in northern New Jersey?

Hi-

I'm in Northern NJ and wondering if there's a PSG tech to work on my Williams in the metro area? I LOVE John Widgren but that's 3 hours of driving for me round trip.

Thanks!

7 string tailpiece

Anyone know where I can get one? I had Gold Tone convert at PBS-8 to a 7 string (with 6 string spacing— I love it) and would like to find a seven string tailpiece that matches the rest of the instrument (i.e. not a trapeze). Second thought— anyone here a good enough machinist to drill a 7th hole...

etudes for E9?

I'd like to do a little woodshedding on my right hand (I'm a dedicated palm blocker). Not interested in speed per se, more interested in accuracy and control.
Wondering if anyone knows of a book of advanced exercises that's really worthwhile (i.e. better than just making up your own).

Best,
David

I'd like to revive this thread. I have a tour coming up where I have to play some very ambient backgrounds on PSG. My main processor will be an Eventide Space stomp box, but I'm going to be tweaking it constantly.I could have backline provide a small barstool but a clip-on tray would be best, like t...

Charles, I PM-ed you. About the color, the body is blonde and the neck has a very light green tint to the stain. Don't know if it used to be darker and faded, the finish looks good and the color is uniform.

MCI S10 for sale w/case (price reduced to $1300)

This is an MCI 3 + 4 that was rebuilt by Jim Flynn of Lone Star Steel Guitars. Mostly MCI parts with Fessenden quick change bell cranks, and a couple of Derby bell cranks and pullers for the stuff I had added. George L E66 pickup. Wood neck, no scratches/dings. Great classic MCI tone. VERY light; al...

Gretsch G5700 Electromatic wiring scheme

Does anybody know the wiring scheme for this guitar? I'm baffled. The pickup has only one wire connected to it (a thick red "hot" wire). The black ground wire just goes into a hole at the bottom of the pickup cavity and I don't know what it actually connects to. It looks like there's shiel...

I need something more than a Tech 21 simulator, good as they are. Probably the Octal V8 is the ticket; Brad is (by all reports) amazing. I just thought that it may be more of a guitar-style preamp compared to his rack-mount units which I've heard are perfect for steel guitar.
