7 string tailpiece

Post by David Mansfield »

Anyone know where I can get one? I had Gold Tone convert at PBS-8 to a 7 string (with 6 string spacing— I love it) and would like to find a seven string tailpiece that matches the rest of the instrument (i.e. not a trapeze).

Second thought— anyone here a good enough machinist to drill a 7th hole in the middle of a standard 6 string tailpiece? Beard used to do that, but they have no more of them.

It's a relatively simple operation. A good sharp drill bit, a slim hacksaw blade, and a small file are all that you need to do it yourself. Here's mine:

I don't have a mental picture of the guitar so I don't know what would work but here is a tailpiece:

7-string tail piece from Allparts

Post by Tommy Adams »

I ordered this tail piece from Allparts and am very pleased with it. Sharp looking and well priced. It is going to work great on the instrument I am building.
Thanks for the info, Tommy

I bought one off of John Rosett for some reason. I don't need it though. It was a steel tailpiece ( not chrome plated brass)trad shaped but an import . I think I paid $15 shipped for it. Yours for the same if you would like.
