I don't think pickups or cables or eq settings have anything to do with it. Find a guy who plays well to play your guitar and I'll bet it sounds great up there. It's gonna be in your picking and bar technique. There is a different sort of finesse that you need in the higher registers and there are ...

Hey Andrew!
How does it play and sound? Could you post some pictures? I have seen Emmons SD10's come from the factory with a D10 endplate on the changer end. I guess it was all that they had on hand at the time.

Happy Birthday MR. Franklin! It would be such a great honor for me to get to meet you sir, but a least I got the next best thing. I got to meet your son, and he autographed my steel guitar seat. Thank you for your brilliant work with the steel guitar. May the Good Lord bless you and your family. Mitch

Here in south Mississippi, 70 percent of the time it's either hot, raining, very humid, or all three. The weather here is very unpredictable. I don't like backing out at the last minute, but I don't like my gear getting wet either. And I don't like playing or singing with sweat pouring off of me, or...

The remainder of all the clubs had all hard rock and distortion guitar. But listen to country radio today-same stuff! Exactly. That's why it's being played at Tootsie's and the other clubs on Broadway. I went to Nashville years ago and enjoyed it but I don't think that I would enjoy it now. Mitch

Perfect touch and tone. He is a direct link to a time and era when the steel guitar was a mainstream instrument. He is a living legend among steel players. There will never be another Lloyd Green.

My Nashville 400 was doing the same thing and I took it to Peavey to get it repaired. They said that it had a dirty voice coil. They fixed the problem and now it runs like new.

Moral of story, if it’s too good to be true, it’s too good to be true! Don’t buy a guitar online without talking to seller first, and if seller doesn’t know who Lloyd Green is, he’s probably not a real seller!

Be careful out there! It’s getting worse!
True words and excellent advise.

Thank you Mr. Strayhorn for your reply. And thank you for building such a fine instrument. My dear friend bought it new in 1988 and enjoyed it into his 88th year (ironic isn't it) when he became no longer able to play. That's when I got it. He didn't want anyone to have the guitar but me and so now ...

Neither! Ron Sr. Turned it over to Jim Aycoth. When did this happen? The reason for the question is because I have a 1988 Emmons Lashley Lagrande D10 that was built by Jack Strayhorn and I was just curious if Ron Sr. was still running the company at that time. I got this steel from a very dear frie...

Re: Miller Custom D-10

I'm mechanically-inclined, but this doesn't really strike me as an ideal beginner project, especially if I ever want to play the thing rather than just having it sit disassembled in my basement for months. You are correct, Dan. :) If I were you, I would buy a pedal steel guitar that's ready to play...

Hello Martin. You may already know this, but when winding the string around the shaft, do not let the string lay on top of itself. When the string is tuned to the proper pitch, the string is pulled very tight around the shaft. If the string is wrapped on top of itself, it can actually cut itself. Th...
