Good eye Kelcey. Most of the wood neck boltons I've seen are lacquer bodied.

BTW: My dyslexia got the best of me. The invoice number is 2556 not 2566.

Both are invoice guitars. The wood one is #2566. Comparisons are subjective and difficult. Both guitars were refreshed by Lynn Stafford and perform very well. They both sound great with lots of sustain. Maybe the aluminum guitar rings a bit more. The big difference is the wood neck does a better job...

Sorry for the silence guys. For some reason I'm not getting email notices when someone posts on this. Thanks to my buddy Lynn Stafford for calling me with a heads up.

Anyway, Ernie and I have been in touch and have worked out the details.

>>>Emmons String Machine<<< UNUSED

This Emmons String Machine is UNUSED. Purchased new at the St Louis convention by John Campbell (designer of the Webb Amp) when Emmons was selling them at the show. John brought it home and stuffed it in the attic, never again to see the light of day. I got it from John's widow after he passed back ...

What kind of guitar??

Chasing a Youtube thread of the song You're Still On My Mind and came across this Lee Ann Womack cut from the Marty Stewart show. Looks like Mr Beavers, but what kind of guitar? Interesting changer. Break starts at 1:26:

Hi John and Richard: Shelley and I have purchased a home in Reno. As a 5th generation Californian I hate to admit it, but California has become more than I can take. Politics, overpopulation, and taxes have all gone too far. I’ll send new contact info after we move sometime in September / October....

Music / practice room layout

Can you share photos or the layout of your practice area or music room / studio?

Moving to a different home, so I’m looking for thoughts on the best way to organize the next woodshed.

Thanks!

I've been blessed to have a wrap, a metal bolt on, and a cut tail. I've gigged all 3. They all are fantastic guitars on all fronts. But hands down the wrap is the go to guitar. That said, from the standpoint of playability, there seems to be a difference between early wraps and later wraps. In the e...

If you are working on a push pull, don’t do it. Take it to someone with p/p experience If you are working on an all pull guitar, at a minimum, I would suggest these 2 steps: 1 – Make a rodding chart of your existing setup. https://www.steelguitar.com/rodding.html https://www.steelguitar.com/rodd...

Trust me, I WILL NOT put power to this one until someone who really knows what they're doing has checked it out. Unless I can find a good tech in the San Francisco area, I will be driving to Marysville to see Skip Simmons.

Thanks for all the great info. The part of me that's impatient wants to plug it in and see what happens. The part of me that is reasonable and understands risk agrees the best next step is a good tech. The reasonable side wins and this will be going to a good tech. In addition to preserving the tube...

Hi Guys - Could use some advice / info? Just discovered this BF Vibro Champ in John Campbell's (driving force behind the WEBB 6-14-E) basement. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1712/5013_IMG_0584_1.jpg https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1712/5013_IMG_0578_1.jpg https://bb.steelguitarforum....

Since I had the guitar almost completely disassembled, I decided to clean the C6th changer, which ended up being just as gunky as the E9th. I also decided to remove, clean and re lubricate (same lube) all of the cross shafts. I’m glad I did. All of the contact points on the cross shafts were as gu...

Next was reassembly. I decided to live dangerously and experiment. As each finger, thrust washer, and string support went on the axel, I applied a VERY SMALL amount of some special lubricant made by a gunsmith friend who hand builds 1911s. It’s designed to provide superior lubrication without attr...
