Find a way to make any PSG work to get from point-A to point-B. PSG's have musical personalities. Each guitar is different in the way it projects tone, sustain and etc. During a conversation at a Mississippi steel show with John Hughey, we were talking about guitars. He said it's the player sitting ...

I still use what I refer to as the "3-Theory." Simply put, it means playing the same thing three different ways. Used as a learning process it opens many ways to play in and around pockets.

I use GK power amps in three of my amp cabinets. I just add any effects I want. Very simple. I use PF400 15" speakers in two Tommy Huff cabinets. A little heavier than the 8 lb. Neo speakers that came w/amps. Mb200 and Mb500 in the TH cabs. NV-112 I just rebuilt has a Mb200 also. Just plug in t...

I've got two Sica 15" speakers that came in cabinets I bought from Tommy Huff. About 8 lbs. each and work great for PSG. I kept watching Paul Franklin's video about the PF-350 speaker and decided to replace the Sica's with PF-400's. PF-400's are heavier but has exactly what I like. I've also re...

Which strings are problems? I played and sold several new Rains guitar. When one would come in, first thing was to remove strings and oil each roller while rotating each one until there was no rubbing or sticking on any roller. Also cleaning and oiling the roller nut axle.

PSG's are like vehicles in that they need to be serviced regularly. This simply includes new strings, using a light oil to lube moving parts each time. The SIT Sho-Bud gauges seem to work well on this particular guitar. Gauges are, .013,.015,.011,.014,.017,.026W,.030W,.034W,.036W. I use these but re...

dropping #7 F# string to a E note
While there's certainly different ways to use the F# note, up or down, I first heard Gary Hogue dropping the F# to E while he and Jr. Knight were playing together at a music store in Texas. Then the 1993 Waco show video is GH on a D-10 MCI and the F# to E lick is there along w/JK. Great pickers all ...
