I was under the impression round-wound strings were not even widely available until 1967 or so. Steel flats were the main strings even on acoustics.

Am I off base on this?

The Bronson brought $731.44 adding up all the parts. Looked like an early '40's Ric with 1 1/4" pick up that looked OK went for $850 on a buy it now. A 1938?? went for $950. Did this seller really benefit by parting it out? I hope some Rics got some help from the parts, because that's the only...

Stephan, I have a Casino Elitist and a Gretsch 6122SP Country Classic, and both could break-up the bass at moderate levels. A friend has a AD30VT and his speaker went out and it was replaced under warranty, so maybe mine was on the way to being bad. My Tele was not to bad. My B6 did not cause a prob...

Gerald, I have the AD30VT and it works well. The programmable 2 channels are great. When you do your sound check and get the volume, tone, etc., set, program it to a channel and your done. When you switch to that channel, it will remember all your settings, including volume. To program, your push th...

Gerald, I filled with my MC with lots of fiberfill and it still had more than enough treble. Normally it would be something like the polarity on the speaker being reversed that is causing the difference in tone we are getting. My MC has a small connector for the "-" side and a large conne...

Those are some different results than I got lining the walls with insulation. I just played my Casino Elite, Dynalap 8-string, Rick B6, and a Gibson SG through the MC and had to turn the treble down on all using the Black Panel and JC Clean. The neck pick-up on the SG and Casino did not have to be ...

Gerald, I would fill the enclosure with the polyfil, but not pack it in there tight. Be careful not to block the port. The speaker does need to move some air. If it helps the bass, then you can start taking some out of the amp if the tone is not to your liking. If it helps the bass some but not enou...

Gerald, It seemed like the bass on my MC just overdrove the speaker, kind of making it "fart out"(musical theory term!). I took a page out of the home stereo speakers book and lined the inside of the cabinet with some 3/4" insulation from a hardware store. It does help the bass hang i...

Sitting in a movie theater watching Let It Be, I was first introduced to the lap steel in 1970. I do have a soft spot for the song "For You Blue" and Lennon, as well as the instrument. As a "Beatles guy" I have been following this post and it caused me to dig out all my Beatles h...

I took my 37 pat pend B6 to the Arlington Guitar Show this weekend to get a feel for value. It is in good shape. It is the one on Rick Aielo's site under restorations(Rick has it as a 1938 B6). Individuals that stopped me knowing what it was thought $900 was a good price for it. Two dealers offered...

I e-mailed and after a couple of days they quoted around $325 to have my tuners restored. I chose to go with a set of Martin tuners, b...

As a new guy to steel guitars and the forum, Rick was invaluable in getting my Rick chrome plates and magnets chromed and magnetized. I had heard the same thing about the Blue's Jr. and found they did address the problem a couple of years ago by changing the boards. I searched the www.fenderforum.com forum and found a lot of info about it. Go to the Amps (1985 to Present)section. I did buy one for Christmas 2003 and it has been f...
