Hi everyone! Just wanted to update this post with some recent developments. After exchanging messages privately, Mark was kind enough to send over a couple of diamond rod covers! I am so grateful for this kind gesture and for this forum where we can all share our passion for these instruments. Thank...

Hi Kiyoshi, Wow! Those neck plates are really hard to find. You got lucky. I would have put it in the correct location though - closest to the player, or at least the right way round (so it's right way up to the player) but maybe I'm too obsessive :) Love those orphan stringmasters. Thanks for the ...

Hi guys! First post in years. Just thought I'd update everyone on the current location of this very same neck. A few weeks ago I bought it off reverb as a working single neck Stringmaster. I just recently brought it home with me to Mexico City. I went ahead and bought a new neckplate and bridge cove...

Pedal action on new Williams Keyless U12
I never noticed until I switched back to my older guitar, but the pedals in my new williams are quite stiff. Not impossible to play, but just stiffer... So I noticed that the crosshafts to which the pedals are connected have an extra little springy thingie that I suppose add an extra umph of tension...

I think a more important aspect of learning materials is not wether they use country music or not, but the fact that they allways settle for the bottom line. If you think about it, the most popular methods settle for getting only the most basic concepts through to the student. (and this is not exclu...

Your best bet is to subdivide the file into chapters. If this is inpractical, you can lower the sample rate as well as the bit size, which will give you an even smaller file size. I'm not in front of sound forge, but I know you can change the sample rate for the encoded mp3. 22khz at 64 kbps will st...

We just had the same problem last month at our studio. We bought the little radio shack thingie, but we never got it to work because of the noise. We settled on using the speaker phone in the recording room for that occassion. But in your case, you might try investigating if the modem in your comput...

Heck, my bass and drum tracks use that many by themselves . Seriously, most everything I work on these days is 40 to 60 tracks, and I see pop productions using upwards of 100 on occasion. I know what your saying, but that's not precisely what I meant. I'm saying that, although I coul...

If you are considering Antares' autotune. (laying aside all pro/con discussions about using autotuning), do yourself a favor and check out Melodyne. It is like autotune on megasteroids. But from what I read, it doesn't sound like you necesarilly need to add anything more to your rig. Although expens...

Pics of my studio are here: http://www.recplayaudio.com It's a commercial recording facility for advertizing, so the place is prettier than the gear is high-end... But it gets the job done. I'm amazed at the diversity in studios, but particularly in what the different conceptions of home, project, a...

Steel Guitar Podcast 100 subscribers!!
Today was the first day our Steel Guitar Podcast broke the 100 subscriber mark! The actual number appears to be much higher, but the statistics software that runs the numbers can only count people who use podcasting software like iTunes and the like. The statistics for my website show that the actua...

Tony, (If I may hijack this post to discuss your point) I never knew there was a steel channel on live365! I would have been all over that! anyway, Internet radio has been clearly established as a broadcasting medium subject to the same laws as regular radio. Not so with podcasting... yet! so basica...
