funny story about Thompson.
When Curley Chalker was playing for Hank he did a song and asked curly if he could play it like Bobby Garret had done on the record and curly replied my name is Chalker and slowly spelled it out for him. If i recall correctly curly was not very long with HT after that. tracy

difficult instruments
I am sure this will come as a surprise to many but it is not the violin that is the most difficult to master. it is the bow. many old masters taught years on using the bow before learning to note. Any one who doubts this can google it. Google Paganni. Hope i remember how to spell his name

Hearing loss.
It begins when hearing seems good but you start having a little trouble understanding some words spoken. Your hearing will now go down so gradual you will not notice it until you are almost deaf. My hard earned advice is not to wait until this happens as it will be too late to try and save your hear...

Hearing aids?
My hearing was damaged by loud noises years ago. To play music wearing them the sooner one accepts that fact nothing is going to replace their normal hearing. IMO the sooner they accept that fact the better off they will be. Tracy

key comments brought back old memories.
A personal friend told me about this years ago and I still find it funny. When he was playing fiddle for Roy Clark and they played in his home town in S.D. He knew so many people in the audience and Roy had him start a song and what key to do it in and would tell the band a different key. Of course ...

I knew Shadey Brown in the 50s
Shadey was playing out on the Jacksboro highway and had one home made pedal. I dont recall what kind of steel he had at the time. He showed me what the pedal did. I was playing fiddle on the old cow town hoe down here in Ft. He got me into steel guitar which i never forgave him for. (only kidding). ...

I think there is something to be said about the violin.
As i have posted before i started on the violin when i was a child. Took up steel many years later. It is said the violin is the most difficult instrument to master. It sure surprised me when i mastered it.

I must plead guilty.
I also with out realizing it got away from the steel guitar sound and country singers would no longer use me. There must be many here old enough to recall when we did about any thing to quit sounding like a steel player or getting so deep into speed and big fat chords (stomp boxes) ect we lost the p...
