Happy Birthday Lloyd, thank you for the inspiration and showing what is possible with a relatively simple setup and limitless creativity. My love of steel guitar can be roughly divided into pre hearing "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" and post.

Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous; praise is meet for the upright. Give praise to the Lord with the harp, chant unto Him with the ten-stringed psaltery. Sing unto Him a new song, chant well unto Him with jubilation. For the word of the Lord is true, and all His works are in faithfulness. The Lord loveth mercy and judgement; the earth is full of the mercy of the Lord.

This just in from LLOYD:
“To you thoughtful people who sent personal birthday greetings via the steel forum to this octogenarian, I can only say thank you through an emissary since I’m not a member. Ricky never hesitates to help me out.
As I told him I never expected to live this long and still be somewhat cognitively aware and still able to play the steel with thought (although not as fiery and passionately as in the 1960s & ‘70s).
But I think all of you know I believe this instrument, the pedal steel, has many incarnations ahead.
So many great younger players who are just as talented, as intelligent, as creative and obsessed as any of us in the past were now want their share of the “pie”.
So, go team! And thanks.”

Happy Birthday Mr. Green.
Thank you for all you have done for the steel guitar
& also for all the recordings you have played on +
all of the history of your recordings very much
appreciated. .

Thank you Ricky for the message from the man himself.
"Tone is in the hands. Unless your wife will let you buy a new amp. Then it's definitely in that amp."

We need to turn the TWANG up a little

It's not what you play through, it's what you play through it.

They say that tone is all in the fingers...I say it is all in your head :)

Happy belated Mr. Green. Thank you for sharing not only your music, but also your wisdom, and experience with the rest of us. Especially for reminding us that it is about making music and that the guitar is a tool to that end.
