I've moved from the POD 2.0 to POD XT to POD X3 to POD X3 Pro and have used the devices with satisfying results in both studio and live performance situations. The technology is a powerful tool, or better yet, toolkit. IMO the presets, just like on synths, are really for demonstration purposes, not ...

I have moved from the POD 2.0, through the XT, X3, and now the X3 Pro rack unit. The X3 is essentially two XTs in a single unit with all of the Model Packs included. For recording and looping I use the POD amp, cab, and mic capabilities along with the effects. I'm very pleased with the results on my...

I am partial to my old green MXR Analog Delay. I have several delay units, including two digital delays that to these ears sound particularly sweet and analogy. The original big chip Boss DD-2 is a stunner. I also had the Analog Man mod done to a Boss DD-3 that analogs it up.

This is my main unit for acoustic, electric, baritone electric, fretless electric, lap steel, baritone lap steel, touch and synthesizer guitars. I also connect the unit via USB as a dongle and use POD Farm Platinum as plug-ins in both Pro Tools and Ableton Live - no additional charge.

On the POD 2.0 you can select one effect or combo effect (i.e., delay/chorus, delay/flanger, etc.) in addition to the amp model, drive and tone controls, and reverb. On the POD XT and X3 you can select multiple effects from different groupings. The manual links provided above will give you the detai...

I'm hitting this three different ways:

1) Boss AW-2 Autowah
2) Line 6 POD X3 Pro models
3) Sound Toys Native Filter Freak plug-in in software-based recording and performance setup.

All three do a nice job for me, different tools for different situations.

Besides impressive sound quality and off-the-chart fun factor, the app lets you try out different tunings without changing strings. Very handy. Another incredible free iPhone app for music is nLog Free Synth. Between these two apps and my noise canceling headphones I can stay busy on those long airp...

I have a Boss PS-5 Super Shifter. I have not used the harmonizer function on lap steel, but I used the octave function with steel on a couple of songs on One Feather Shy to drop an octave, one song with my baritone lap steel. I am pleased with the deep, rich bass tone.

Interesting debate, I'll weigh in with another line of sight. The quest for the tone and sound can take many a path. For some it's simply an acoustic instrument, for others it's an electric instrument plugged into a tube amp, for others it's a more complex configuration. In any case, it's a personal...

Seconding John's comments. The LS-2 will do the job you need done, but it's really a Swiss Army knife of routing capabilities; it'll do the next job you're not even thinking of yet! I had one for years, sold it, regretted it, and bought a replacement. BTW, there is usually a pretty good supply of th...

I had the mod done to a DD-3 and love the results, as well. aNaLoG.MaN's mod does a terrific job of emulating the classic analog delays and, as noted above, with the flick of a switch you're back in digital land. For my money this is a very practical and useful mod that sounds great. Not that I'm ge...
