Line 6 POD XT

Post by Paul Carestia »

Folks,

I'm interested in knowing how many of you use the Line 6 POD XT as an effects unit and for those of you who do, what are your likes and don't likes about it?

I see it as very portable over rack mounted effects units. Just wondering how well it fits a pedal steel players effects needs. Also, how do you use the amp and cabinet feature....or do you by-pass it just using the effects of the POD?

Thanks much!

I just use it as an all-in-one effects box on stage. I like the phaser and the auto-wah. For everything else, I have better sounding units at home but they're harder to set up.

I don't have much use for amp and cabinet simulators.

There have been a lot of posts about the POD XP (mostly in the Electronics section of the forum).

I"ve had one for sevaral years and use mine for effects only on live performances and I've started using the POD XT direct to the board for recording.

I've developed some programs that can be downloaded from my web site. www.gulfcoaststeelguitar.com

I have one of the Tommy Dodd leg mounting assemblies and that keeps it handy for any program changes.

I have moved from the POD 2.0, through the XT, X3, and now the X3 Pro rack unit. The X3 is essentially two XTs in a single unit with all of the Model Packs included.

For recording and looping I use the POD amp, cab, and mic capabilities along with the effects. I'm very pleased with the results on my album One Feather Shy. You can listen to samples of the XT and X3 at work at www.lorenclaypool.com. Almost every instrument track was recorded through the either the XT or X3; a couple of Warr Guitar basslines were played through a Presonus preamp.

I am using the X3 Pro on my latest project. I'm also using the POD Farm Platinum plug-ins inside of Pro Tools and Live to add effects after-the-fact. (And several other plug-ins, too!) All of my gear and plug-ins are listed on the gear page at my site, for those so inclined.
