NOOB question please be patient
New to home recording, that is. I am a seasoned (40 year) psg player. Some local bands are asking me to add psg to their mp3 songs. So, my goal is limited to adding a psg track to the existing mp3 and mixing down the result. Do I really need a computer and DAW software, or can I go an easier route, ...

Howard, I did exactly what you propose about a year ago. I went from d-10 to the GFI Ultra S-10. I absolutely love it. I have been playing 38 years and it easily meets all of my psg needs. Opinions will differ on this, but I smile every time I lift it and its 26 lbs into the case. Not a bad price, e...

Michael, I have been playing 38 years, 3 Emmons, 2 Fessy. All were great sounding and playing guitars. I'm getting a bit old to deal with the weight issues, so I tried a GFI Ultra S-10. It has absolutely everything I need, nothing I don't, and at 26 lbs, I can recommend GFI with enthusiasm. Very nic...

Cody, please consider this advice from a 37 year player. I made the switch from Right to Left knee for both the E moves about 10 years ago. It took about 2 days to become accustomed to it, and I strongly recommend you have both the E raise and lower on the left knee. Michael is spot on with his advi...

Rusty Young Sighting
Poco played Charleston last Friday, opening for America. My wife had snagged us second row seats, and it turned out to be one of the greatest concerts I have ever seen in my 58 years. He had his black Carter S-10 3X4 running dry through a Twin. Poco played for about an hour, and he sat down at the P...

Helping new players can't be anything but a good thing. My tip? Sweeten your tuning by flatting the 2 G#s a bit. Your ear should guide you on this. I tune most everything else straight up. One more? You can play 3 majors (at least) 3 minors and two sevenths from any bar position. None of these posit...
