Fixed part of the problem. I think this one was originally set up as the Day system and I'm changing it to the Emmons system, moving the C pedal. Well, looking at what used to be the C pedal I saw that the pedal stop screw was shorter than the one on the new C pedal. Swapping them out fixed the inte...

problem with old Emmons Push Pull

Working on an Emmons push pull. Not sure of its age. Is there a list of serial numbers somewhere? I'm having trouble getting the C pedal and the E lever to balance out and in trying to get more travel in the C pedal discovered an interference between the C pedal stop screw and the little eye screw t...

permission to use song lyrics

Sharon started working on a book about learning to play 6 string guitar and wants to use some song lyrics that are protected by copyright. I tried to do the right thing and go to the publisher to ask permission which was denied. I could not get an answer about why we were denied. Has anyone been thr...

Thanks. That site is mostly pictures. It did show the inductance value of a good coil which is handy to know. But it didn't have any instructions on set up or use.

steel rider user manual?

Help, I'm trying to get a Steel guitar MIDI interface gadget called a Steel Rider to work. I had to make new cables to go from the preamps to the input, and I know that signal is getting from the pickup through the preamps. Not sure if it is enough signal or not. I don't have a users manual and have...

Since you can see the raise finger moving, check to see if anything underneath is grabbing something or binding something that it shouldn't. You might be able to tell with it upside down but might have to crawl underneath and watch the action.
How old is the guitar and did this just start?

here's a couple of other things to try. One is to oil the roller nuts with some light gun or sewing machine oil. I have found this to help sometimes when my 6th string comes back sharp after lowering. Oil the changer while you're at it. The other is to increase the return spring tension. But I just ...

Hi Billy, I'm not so familiar with Zum but your process is similar to what we use with our Emmons. But on our guitar the vertical lever is not intended to lower 5 and 10 a full tone but only a half tone. For grins you might try backing off the allen screw that defines the lowest low and see if the F...

Hi All, Sharon and I have been using a grid I set up on Microsoft Word for writing out our tab, but we're thinking maybe we ought to look into some software so we can do it easier on the computer and make it easier to edit. Hello Jan, That's a beautiful guitar you have there. Sorry I can't help with the model #. I'm certain someone here on the forum can identify it. Pick ups are complex gadgets. They have resistance due to the amount of wire used to form the coil and also inductance and some distributed capacitance. Th...

Cautious and judicious use of small hammer and small anvil brought it back straight enough.
Yeah, I'll use in on a non lower string when I put it all back together.
Thanks, everyone.

Next question. Now I've got the bent finger out and I'm wondering if I should heat it at all before attempting to straighten. http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix1205/3454_bent_finger_1.jpg I'm probably going to use a small hammer and edge of the anvil to untwist this finger edge. It's not a terri...
