Speaker Impedance

Yes, that is exactly what I'm saying. While DC resistance is not the only component of impedance it is the most significant contribution.
Here is a brief rundown https://www.kevinchant.com/uploads/7/1/ ... edance.pdf .
I hope this helps

The Emmons string machine was basically 3 Foxx tone units jammed together in a box. The Foxx Tone was my favorite Fuzz tone of the era because the selectable octave switch gave it a unique character. I still have one built into a wah pedal, but if you do a web search for " Foxx Tone clone "...

Not to get too far off-topic, but the foxx tone machine was my favorite fuzz tone from that era. It had an octave switch that allowed a high overtone that was pretty cool, rather like an Octavia pedal. The Emmons guitar company sold this unit, with their name on it, as competition with the Boss Tone...

When I worked for EB in 1978-79 we got our tone bars directly from Jim Dunlop. They were the exact same bar that Dunlop sold, only the ceramic dot in the middle was different for EB. I don't know if that has changed since, but I suspect they are still the same bars. For the money I think they are as...

My mistake. The headstock resembles the Starcaster, but the body is too symmetric to be a fender. Definitely a Micro-Frets

I don't know the amp, but the guitar looks to be a Fender Starcaster. Designed by Gene Fields they were manufactured roughly from 1975 until 1982. They were a semi-hollowbody design, and were never very popular. They come up from time to time on e-bay.

Heard you on "A Prairie Home Companion" from Spokane last night. A great show, with some good country music, and nice steel work at that. Good job on "Panhandle Rag".

Please forgive me if I am helping to pull this thread off-topic, but this discussion of delay units reminded me of something. Back in the late 1970's I was using a Roland Chorus-Echo (RE-301) for delay, and it was the best sounding tape delay I have ever heard. In one box you got (a very quiet) tape...

Johnathan, this article will explain it better than I ever could. http://www.transparentsound.com/measurements/Tomi_Engdahl.pdf It is not uncommon to find D-130's that have been re-coned to something other than their original impedance. It seems a lot of them were 16 Ohms originally, and that was no...

The rule of thumb for measuring Speaker impedance by directly measuring DC resistance is to multiply by 1.3 , so an 8 ohm speaker should measure somewhere around 6.15 Ohms DC. I have seen this question about using resistors to change speaker impedance before, and what most people don't take into acc...

Also, keep in mind when you have speakers in parallel that the speaker with...

The general rule of thumb is to measure the DC resistance of a speaker (with nothing else attached) and multiply that by 1.3, so an 8 Ohm speaker should measure around 6.15 Ohm dc. Of course this is only a ballpark figure, but since musical instrument speakers usually only come in 4, 8, or 16 Ohm va...
