Wanted - Non-working double-string EBow

I would like to find one of the original pedal steel (double-string) versions of the EBow in non-working condition. I'm not looking for, nor can I afford, a collector-quality piece. I'm looking for a unit which has been used and no longer works. If I can put it back together with solder, baling wire...

WTB - Fender Parts

Hi Group, I'm posting this for John Monteleone in New York, so please send any info directly to him. ################################## Hello Mike, Since you are in the steelers group perhaps you know where one might be able to find either some vintage Fender steel pickups and tuners, or new parts a...

There's another reason you don't want the pot to hit the stops -- it makes a nasty 'clunk'. I work on a lot of pedals for Scotty and I always check after replacing a pot to make sure that the pedal hits the rubber bumper just barely before it hits the end of rotation.

Chip, Sorry to be a party-pooper! I'm sure B0B just LOVES the flame-wars which break out on here from time to time. As much as I like to watch a good fight, I figured "why not just call the guy up and ask him". After all, Monteleone's name was used to try to sell something that he very lik...

OK, folks, here's the story from John: Hello Mike, I took a look at this thing and for the life of me unless I was unconscious when this was made I can't remember it at all. I don't believe that I made any of this. Here's what I do recall. The owner of that thing used to come around to my shop once ...

Hi Group, I called Mr. Monteleone (very personable guy!) and gave him a heads-up and the EBay item number. He advised me that he would have a look at the EBay listing and email me with his comments. He also gave me permission to post his comments here on the Forum. When I get his email, I'll post it...

I looked at a Lil' Wonder (in a blue box - I believe it was made by the same guy) for one of Scotty's customers and had to tell the guy that I couldn't help him because of the epoxy potting compound. I heard later that he had tracked down the guy who made it and was going to try to get him to fix it...

Hi Mike & Lana,

How's "The Box" working? I hope it wasn't the source of the hum! I don't know if Marilyn and I will get there or not. If we do, it'll be Saturday. I'd like to, but we have a lot going on getting ready for our trip.

Eliminating Volume Pedal Cord Slippage

Hi Folks, I've read numerous posts here on the Forum regarding volume pedal cord slippage and how to prevent it. I'd like to share my favorite anti-slip technique with all of you. My wife is a violin player and suggested using rosin to prevent slippage. Believe me, once you try it, you'll never try ...

I've found the best thing for cleaning pots is a spray product called Caig DeOxIt D5. A little goes a long way! If your pots are not sealed, a little "poof" into the opening near the terminals is sufficient. Work the pot through its full rotation a few times to spread the cleaner/lubricant...

Anyone ever hear of a Roberts pedal steel?

Today I was in a pawn shop in Columbia MO and saw a single 10 pedal steel which had a metallic nameplate which said "Roberts" on it. The guitar was a natural-finished, sorta plain-looking piece of maple with a white plastic covered pickup. It had 4 pedals, and I noticed that the bellcranks...

Magnatone Lap Steel

A friend of mine just gave me an old Magnatone lap steel! This one has a dark gray MOTS finish, white squarish plastic open-gear tuning pegs and a straight-sided shape which tapers from the width at the nut to its widest at the tail end of the guitar. The pickup is hidden under the pearloid coating,...

Hi Russ, I walked into the pawn shop yesterday and asked the man if he'd take $175. He said OK, so then I asked him if he'd consider a trade. He said sure, so I went out to the car and got the old Peavey T-60 guitar I'd bought at the OTHER pawn shop a couple of months earlier for $100! He asked me h...

Russ, It looks almost exactly like this: http://home.att.net/~mharmon/tonemaster.jpg (hopefully, this works ...) except that the "Stringtone" bridge/changer is used instead of a hardtail bridge. The black plastic "U-shaped" cover plate is exactly the same (knobs and all). The fin...

CrowBear,

The original price marked on the tag said $500, but it's been there for 15 months, so I think they were getting eager to sell it.
I offered the guy $100 today and he came back with a counter-offer of $200.

Lap Steel Info and Value ???

I found a decent-looking old 6-string lap steel recently in a local pawn shop. The name on the headstock end is "Tonemaster". There are also the words "English Electronics" running downward toward the nut. This guitar has a tan mother-of-toilet-seat finish, but upon closer inspec...

Anyone know how to contact Boss?

I've been thinking about buying an older Boss analog bass chorus pedal (CE-2B), but the one I'm looking at has no user's manual. I went to Boss's (Roland) web site, and there is almost NO info there regarding anything older than the current stompbox models. I can't find a "support" page on...
