8 strings is the answer for me. 8 strings just offers so much more versatility. I've never looked back.

Since they are played with a steel bar just like Hawaiian guitars and pedal steels I think you could call them steel guitars.

I used to hear Weldon Myrick and Hal Rugg do the violin sound in harmony. It was impressive.

Mangling Pedal Steel Guitars

Why do people mangle pedal steels by taking off the C6th neck and adding a pad?

Removing The Back Neck?

Why do people remove the C6th neck from their pedal steel guitar? I have never understood why anyone would bugger their guitar that way.

Best Virus Protection For Windows 10

Hi everyone, just wondering what your recommendations would be for a sturdy virus protection for Windows 10 which doesn't seem to offer a lot of protection.

To my taste E minor 7th tuning was never meant to play Bluegrass music. It works much better for swing music and such.

Buy an original Stevens bar, which is easy to hold, don't cost a ton and last for quite a while even under extreme usage. Stevens bars were also used by players like Buck Graves in the 1950's they didn't hurt his tone. :)

I tried a Bigsby Palm Pedal on one of my Dobro's. I found it difficult to use, this was about the time that Jerry Douglas made his appearance on the national stage. I decided after hearing him that I didn't need a BPP. :)

Howard, thanks very much for posting The Seldom Scene Documentary. I was a huge fan from the beginning of the band and of course being a Dobro player, I loved Mikes playing. I must admit I was more of a fan of John Starlings lead singing but everyone has their preferences.

If you like Vibraphone and Pedal Steel Guitar, I would highly recommend the Blondie Calderon and Julian Tharpe album Take Your Pick. It may be difficult to find.
