Noah's right about the value as compared to an old Rick, Fender, National..., but they aren't making mots covered guitars anymore and your guitar is a pretty nice example. I like the fretboard too.

My first step would be to check the pickup by unsoldering the lead at the resistor/cap connection and look for continuity with an ohmmeter. If it's not either zero ohms or infinite ohms I would put the meter on the ac volt setting and see if it will detect a signal when you whang on the strings. If ...

'86 Dodge 150: Chrysler 318 with an A727.
'97 Dodge Ram 2500: Cummins 6bt with an NV4500. I like them both.

Oh yeah...Carter D-10.

Tony, I'm almost 70 and like Bill I abandoned the gigging life decades ago for a more rewarding career in every way. Even so, I never stopped playing at every opportunity. I'm down to playing a jam once or twice a week and a local club every two weeks or so. It's a great situation because I can hang...

I gave myself a blood clot from sitting for too long that almost did me in. I learned my lesson, Samuel. My friends and I stop playing, stand and flex at least every hour now. I also had some hand cramping, particularly with my left that gave me trouble with the bar. I think it's caused by over exer...

Did you tell your wife yet? Chicken! On the subject of surge protectors, metal oxide varistors, MOVs, those little red or blue disks that are connected between the hot and return in a surge protector, can only discharge so much before they say:"adios, I'm done!" The problem is you rarely c...

Lightning struck a big oak near my house and blew a strip of bark off from the crown to the base. The earth around the roots blew up too. My habit is to unplug everything I care about and stay away from the plumbing or anything else that's grounded like the appliances or shop tools. It's a good time...

Yeah, and the next step is, for example, a CMaj9th being a G major triad on top of a C major triad. The whole idea of polychords can get out of hand except for our ears finding a home in the bass notes and strongest intervals. I usually think of melody chord improvisation as simultaneous melodies ha...

Yeah, it sure is a beauty. Don't ever sell it, at least to someone other than me!

I am currently rebuilding a Gretsch/Sho-Bro 7-string which in all respects I think is an inferior guitar to yours. I will tune it to the GBDEGBD G6th tuning.

Yup, pretty hard to get a dominant sound with no b5 interval. I like turnaround progressions like: A7 C#m7b5 D Adim E E+ where the bass and top are moving in and out on each other. The only way I know how to get that on straight steel is by implication, either relying on other band members for triad...

Maybe we should all go yell at the Green Mountains like the kid in Shane going: Chriiiiis! Come back Chris! If Chris thinks he's shut of us, well we'll just see.

My niche is the American Songbook, I love it all although I tend to play '60s and earlier. Ray Price, Bob Wills, The Four Tops, Tommy Dorsey, W.C. Handy, and Duke Ellington are all fair game.

I think only bottleneck but I'll ask a friend from Leland about it. Spoonfull really sounds like bottle neck and the fret rattle is pretty prominent.
