For me, one of the most bothersome things is when I move the bar towards the nut. . . Trying to stop at the right place. My hand covers where I want to stop so I just guess. Or worse yet, I slide past the spot I want to go so I can see it and go to my spot. I finally stumbled on the fact that if I d...

So sorry to highjack the thread Mike, but I was listening to your blues Chicago style-FROM 9 YEARS AGO, (found it by accident when I was watching the You Tube video for this thread) and it was awesome! Never heard any blues on non pedal steel that I like better. The tone is just perfect! THANK YOU!

Sorry about the time lag. Forgot about this post. I do the same thing when I switch back and forth between electric and steel, just unplug the electric and plug in the steel. Works fine for me too. When I use the acoustic guitar however, I have an LR Baggs acoustic preamp pedal. Does not (understand...

I ended up dropping the first string down a step so that it formed a major sixth chord instead of a major seventh chord. Decided I had more use for that tuning anyway. Helped a little. But what finally solved it was, I had Jerry at Sentell build me another pickup. The new pickup is a balanced and fu...

Tried the .012 but didn't seem to make much difference. I did try lowering tuning to G11th. Sounded little dead though. Think maybe I went too low. Tuning to A11th might work. I will try that. Thanks for the help guys.

Bright string

I play an 8 string lap steel (B11 tuning). The strings are B C# D# F# A C# E G# low to high. I used to have a low A on the bottom string but I never used it. I got rid of it and put a G# on top instead, which I use a lot more. Problem is, the G# is too bright. My question is, it common to have a G# ...

I've been gigging for decades and have always used amps and wedges. A year ago or so I found myself in a situation (knew it was going to happen sooner or later) where I was forced to start using in ears or headphones. I first tried the Strymon Iridium for a couple of months. In my opinion the Deluxe...

Great idea but . . . I bought the Reliable Hardware model for my Marsh Clifton (Deluxe Reverb). Even though I had the bracket as far forward as I could, the center of gravity wasn't right. Tha amp tips backward and won't stay upright. I will try it on my Princeton, maybe that will work better.

Huh, can't see how either of those options would work. Here is my signal flow: 1. 2 instruments into a switcher (to switch back and forth between the two instruments) and one out into the acoustic preamp pedal. 2. Only one Acoustic pre amp pedal out to the amp, so both instruments run through the e-...

2 instruments into 1 amplifier problem.

So here is my puzzle. I have 2 instruments, an electric lap steel and an electric acoustic guitar. I want to run them into one amp. The acoustic I need to eq quit a bit and so I use an LR Baggs pre amp pedal to do that. The lap steel sounds fine with out the pre amp pedal. In fact it sounds horrible...

Same thing happened to me about a month ago when I listed my Rukavina for sale. I told them that I don't respond to any third party sales, that they are against Reverb policy and don't contact me again.

One thing I forgot to add, my regular pedal board with all sorts of pedals on it, including four overdrives, sounds every bit as good with the 65 Dream through the house PA, as it does straight through the guitar amp.

I use the new UAFX 65 Dream pedal. I was using the Strymon Iridium but switched to the UAFX because in my opinion it sounds more like a classic blackface deluxe reverb which is what I was looking for. I use it for guitars but haven't tried my steel with it yet. The Iridium's Fender channel sounds to...

Good points Jerry and Joe. My scale is 23 1/4" so not as short as a regular 22 1/2" scale but not a long scale either. I should know better but, sometimes I catch my right hand drifting to the left and getting to close to the left hand/bar as the bar moves up the fretboard. This doesn't he...

Playing above the 12 th fret

I have a couple of 8 string lap steels, a Rukavina and a Melbert. Both are nice instruments but one thing I have noticed on both of them is that at and above the 12th fret, the sustain seems less and the tone also begins to suffer. I figured out that a little more pressure and a healthy attack helps...
