Probably because by now Weldon was fully into studio work and either didn’t have time to do it, or Lloyd was “hotter” at the moment and they wanted to show him off.

Re: Hal's guitar

Silas, I think Ricky has a point with the picture of Hal you posted showing a two-tone (blonde maple top) D10. Lem's guitar has no blonde maple anywhere on the cabinet! Unless it's been painted?! Also the side-of-neck inlay is a totally different design. Lem's has the wooden star-of-david design (1...

My guess is a 74ish wood neck emmons. He used those in the studio alot around that time.

I was under the impression this was Hal's guitar. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=336991&sid=094e627e2999567bd7be61371feaf602 I believe it resides in Vermont. Hal played many different buds in the 60’s. He even had a crossover at the same time he played that blonde permanent. He...

All my previous Sho~Bud guitars have had nylon tuners, so this is a first for me, but I just picked up a fingertip model. The previous owner told me that it was built in 1966 and that at one time it belonged to Hal Rugg. It has had some updates, such as the enclosed tuners and the dust catcher fret...

1973 Sho-Bud Pro I (traded locally)

For sale is my super clean 1973 pro I. The red color and birdseye figuring in the maple are stunning. No cracks in the finish, one slight scuff in the center of the apron in the lacquer and on the left endplate. The lacquer scuff should buff out, I haven’t tried. It has the coveted brass 2 hole pull...

Does it still have his reversed pedals on it? Like A pedal lowering 5&10 to B from C# instead of raising like he played in that era?

I can do these Hal licks, somewhat. I no joke work on them nonstop for hours, until my hand cramps. And still can’t really do them. They are really difficult because it’s not just hammering on, its pulling off back towards yourself at that speed.
