You Love the Thunder

The solo and especially the outro on You Love the Thunder is my favorite guitar solo by anyone ever. What Lindley adds to a song which has a fairly simple melody is really breathtaking. Good musicians “serve the song.” Lindley elevates this song in a way no one else could have. https://youtu.be/izxy...

Paint

Someone else mentioned this too but I highly recommend Rust-o-leum white appliance paint. It’s paint + epoxy and gives you a really smooth and durable finish. Spray it on in light coats so you don’t have drips

Steve Cunningham

Steve Cunningham is a forum member and a really good teacher. I’ve been taking lessons with him since January. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

He does lessons over video and it’s really workable. I went to him specifically because I wanted to learn more Lindley than twangy

My alternative

I have a 40’s Bakelite Ric and bought those same tuners. I did find that if you Mount them upside down the screw holes line up perfectly. I didn’t have the guts to put new holes in my baby so I mounted the left set on the right side and vice versa. I’m getting used to having to turn them oppos...

Grounding

These are all Bakelite, even the bridge. You cannot run ground to the bridge or tail piece as you would on a modern instrument. The wiring diagram (above) shows that the pots have a lug connected to the ground of the output jack, along with one of the wires from the pickup. It’s a very simple circ...

Take the cover off and look for a loose or disconnected wire. Here’s a wiring diagram I used for my Model B https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2020-03/20166_02ACD1B88E60488883A2C57B169C01D0_1.jpg Here’s what mine looked like after redoing the wiring https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix202...

Are my tuners original? Rick Model B

I have a Rickenbacker Model B, 1946. Everything on here looks original, including the tuners. Does anyone have pic of or know what the original tuners were on these? Mine has three on a plain bar, white plastic buttons.
