What kind of music are you after? Many early songbooks were written in high-bass A and are readily available for little money. Sebastian Muller has a number of great arrangements in A tuning (not sure if high-bass or low). As someone else said, you can easily adapt Dobro music (high bass G). Most o...

I think most of us here already have all the steels we need, so bargain prices are the only thing that would entice us to buy, at least that's where I'm at. There are some fine guitars there though.

Sweet guitar, I had one just like it, I traded mine for a Ric B6 and I think the values are still around the same, $1500.00 ish would be my estimate.

I like them, but never bought one when they were $400.00, not buying one now. For the price of that, less even, I got a Republic Tricone that kills.

It's really just about what you're used to, slants on a 25" Dobro are no problem for me because that's what I mostly play, I'm also comfortable on my 22 1/2 steels, but it takes a second when I switch over.

Well, the guitar is a Magnatone or Dickerson and lots of us have or have had those, I have never seen the amp/ record player thing you're talking about and sure would like to if you could get it out for some pictures.

Not real sure what you mean, but id say to get the best one you can afford. Ive been impressed with the newer Regals, I have a RD30 I bought off CL used for $200.00 as a beater and its really a darn good guitar, I also had a Black Lightning that my buddy has now and loves. As far as Desirable, the s...

I see, I would still be inclined to keep that, I'm always looking and rarely see those. If you're just starting out, seven strings will be plenty to keep you busy, it may be perfect for you. You can also have just one eight string coil made and do a 7/8 setup.

That's a sweet guitar and a great price. Are you saying the pickups have seven pole pieces? Or that they don't pickup the outer strings well, which is a very common problem on 8 string Ric's and can be fixed. I would definitely keep that thing and fix it.
You can play it as a seven while you decide.

It would help to know what model Oahu you have. I think the birch student models, basically Stella square necks are more robust than, say, a 66k. I run acoustic mediums down around C# on the 66k. I put a bridge Doctor in the 65k and it worked wonders with it's bellying, that one can take a bit more ...

Really cool guitar, I love Magnatone amps and guitars. Another option for the tuner buttons is clear acrylic and paint them with translucent red. Congratulations on that beauty.
