I was buying some of Mullen's oil ($10) in that cool applicator. When I went through the checkout process the shipping calculator wanted $21. I emailed Mike and he gave me a decent shipping price. I believe that website is still a work in progress, shipping-wise.

FWIW, 3&6 move at the same time on my Stage One, which is one that Doug built and that I bought from him. I use the wound .022 on string 6 as advised and a .012 on string 3. I buy the Stage One strings in the store, here, and sub a .012 for the .0115 that is included in the set. On string 3 the ...

Thank you Shoshana for sharing Bob's background so openly...quite a man and nothing like what I expected! Very uplifting for me to read, and thanks for that, too.

Condolances, but lucky you to have him for your Dad!

Hello Tom, Far from a professional, but just change the strings and leave everything else alone. Make sure you use the correct strings and it should come back to being real close. (I actually use a .012 instead of .0115 for #3) I usually buy them on the Forum Store under 'Accessories' above, but the...

Consider what your audience is expecting to hear. To get a recognisable commercial sound you should persevere with the finger picks. Extraneous noises can be practised away. Don't throw out the baby of tone with the bathwater of convenience :) Chill, dude. Let the guy play in whatever way makes HIM...

When I decided I wanted to learn pedal steel almost three years ago and started researching them, one name stood very, very high....higher than any other...on the recommendation list for a good, solid, affordable guitar. Stage One. It didn't matter to me about Zum or Zumsteel because I didn't know a...

I guess I got lucky. That site was the absolute very first one that I found when I started. Two years later I still haven't absorbed it all, of course. I just figured you all knew about it...lol! bOb: YES on the camera angles! I can't believe some of the more modern courses don't utilize this. To be...

Michael and Tucker, Thank you both for your input. Today I am having much better luck and it is with the settings that both Jack and Tucker suggested. Michael, I am using a Stage One pot VP and a Sarno Freeloader in my signal chain and I run the Sarno at about 6; seems to have always taken the 'edge...

Thanks Jack, I appreciate you giving me some input. I have followed the threads where you and Travis both posted photos of your settings. That is where I started. I guess I just need to work on my technique more. I just picked up PSG a couple years ago. In Buddy Emmon's 'Witchita Lineman', he goes b...

Stage One and Quilter T12

Hi all, I can't lift much after two back operations and was looking for a nice, light amp to go with my Zum Stage One. I bought a Travis Toy TT12 for the weight and can still return it. I am having a hard time getting a good clean Lloyd Green tone out of it. My Strats and Teles are crystal clean thr...

No expert, but here is some more info. This first pdf is older, I think, but shows the difference between Jeff Newman's *newer* tuning (SE9), his older tuning (OE9) and Emmons (EM9). Looks like it was made before they had the *P* (pedal) sweetener options. http://76.12.22.162/media/pdf/StroboPlus_St...

Jeffran Email Mentions Fingerpicks *UPDATED*

I imagine some of you may still be on the Jeffran mailing list. I am as I don't have the history many of you do and I am new to pedal steel. For those of you that left the email list...and never got your fingerpicks (I know that is a sore subject)...this may interest you. I received it this morning:...

Very true, Stephan, but these new ToneMaster models from Fender are tubeless! It's hard to keep up with all the new stuff coming out constantly, I know. They make a ToneMaster Twin Reverb and a Deluxe Reverb. Look exactly like the real deal, but soild-state modelers with neodynium speakers. The Twin...

Steve,

It only hisses when the treble is also turned up. I received a reply from Fender saying that the modeling does have some hiss.

I also compared it to a vintage Fender and it seems like they nailed the hiss...lol!

Tone Master Twin Hiss?

Hey all, I just received my Tonemaster Twin today and was surprised to hear hiss when nothing is plugged in and the volume and treble are both at 10. Power at full; both channels, bright switch on and off. For some reason I thought I had read that these were absolutely quiet. Maybe I'm mistaken. Jus...

I just looked up my order from Penn Elcom and I ordered and received the same wheels you link to...the W8375. I felt the need to chisel my case corners out for them to fit. Don't know about the DIY Road Case ones. https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/userpix2020-03/18398_Penn_Caster_2_sm_1.jpg https://bb...
