It's a factory SD10, no changer cutout on the C6 deck and no neck screws either. Emmons SD10's came with a D10 endplate because they were cast that way. Someone has clearly tinkered with the knee levers positions and such, hence all the screws holes. Judging by the features it's circa 1985, it has t...

Loctite is the last thing you want to use, it will no longer be a roller nut! Although it shouldn't rattle, being new really has nothing to do with it because it would take decades to wear them out, it may not fit well from the factory. Try winding your string at bit of an angle to put pressure on o...

That guitar would not have had any knee levers originally, however it was very common for factory setups to not have a stop for that lever. You can add a stop of some kind if you want, but there is no risk of breaking a finger, and as long the set screw are tight on the bell cranks, you should be fi...

Dave,
The barrels work great if properly adjusted, and overall the two hole pullers are smoother in operation than the racks. Most of the issues arise from folks not knowing to engage the pedal or lever while tuning the pulls.

That is indeed a 1967 Bolt On. The important stuff like the pickups appear original, even the case, but the fretboards have definitely been replaced. Not sure about the two tone mica, it is possible at least the front piece was replaced, but I've seen stranger things that were original(like Lilac pu...

The raise finger doesn't contact the lower finger when raised, it contacts the body of the guitar. With the pedal engaged, you shouldn't be able to press it forward any further.

Roger, Here is another brief history from a slightly different perspective concerning the history of the company. A short Emmons history... The Emmons guitar began in the early 60's, as a culmination of 2-3 years of Buddy Emmons cataloging enough improvements to the existing Sho-Bud guitars to creat...

I have never even played a push/pull, much less owned one. My knowledge is minimal-to-zero regarding the various changes that took place in the early days. Broadly speaking, then, what I've gleaned is that Buddy's original design (the wrap) fulfilled its promise but, due to some slight technical sn...

I was told long ago that white lithium grease is what was used on the changer axle by the factory, so that is what I use as I assemble, but I lubricate the changer with tri flow. Abe, White lithium grease has a reputation of drying up and hardening over time. The caked-on stuff in the photos that B...

If you're not using the CF at all, there is a pin where the arm in the picture connects to the changer on the top of the guitar, you can drive the pin out and the arm can be removed. For some reason, the arm on some guitars was made at such an angle that it interfered with lowering the 5th string, i...

Brian,
You use a scratch awl to number the fingers as they come off of the axle, so you can reassemble in order. Berryman carb cleaner works wonders, and Slick 50 is good lubrication for reassembly.

Marty, I shipped out an LL3 service job today, and to answer your question; yes, the counterforce does work. I didn't check the A pedal drop on the 6th string, but I did the C pedal; you have about 10 cents drop without the counterforce engaged, and none with it adjusted. I don't know where the bad ...

Mike,
I would say the changer mounts are original to the necks, the changer fingers themselves haven't changed since 1964, so the finger would work with either one.

Everything but the necks and a few bell cranks are from the mid/late 70's, it therefore would have came with the badge rather than a decal. It looks like someone simply swapped the original necks for the Bolt On necks, it is most certainly not an original 1960s Bolt On. There were more than a few Bo...
