Your Emmons
I wasn't going to post this as I didn't want to clutter up the thread with unhelpful info. I had my hands on that guitar once if only for a short time. There was a benefit being held in Pulaski at that veterans club by the 81 ramp. I was playing steel for Steve Woolson's bands. Country stuff. Someon...

C6 neck theory questions
My LKR lever raises my 4 and 8 strings a half step. I get a hard dom.7th instead of the 6th all the way up the neck.

Tuning a pull release guitar.
Hey Doug thanks for the response. I didn't get the email as it was an old email address I forgot to update. I've changed it in my profile but didn't get my membership reactivated right away. Could you please resend info. deboaltj@gmail.com. Thanks John

Tuning a pull release guitar.
Just got my old stage one Zum back from someone who borrowed it several years ago to try to learn to play steel. I seem to recall a pull release tuning sequence posted here on the Forum and I wanted to try it out when I set the guitar up again. I didn't locate it after scrolling through several page...

Has this Happened To you
I play steel for what we call the hillbilly jam in our retirement community. Since it's a Christian community the majority of songs are in the gospel realm. Every week people come on stage to perform songs I've never played or heard before. You get a verse and a chores to pick up the melody before y...

Carter Guitars
I have the first Carter assembled in 2001. It was made as a D10 8 and 5. I had seen them on display at a couple of shows. They had one in a glass case with the under carriage facing out so the workmanship could be easily seen. They advertised a 30 day delivery, and no other maker was even close to t...

Ickes Interview
Thanks for posting those interviews Howard. I've been a huge Mike A. fan since I first started playing the instrument. It was nice to hear the reverence for the man and his playing expressed by 2 monster masters of the dobro.

Pitfalls of Asian knockoff resos
I have a Wechter Scheerhorn. I've had it several years and was always happy with the sound, it barks pretty good. Last winter I decided it was time for a new cone, so I ordered one form Beard. I was in for a huge surprise when I took off the cover plate. The cone, and spider were nothing like the Am...

RIP Bernie Gonyea
Long time Forum member Bernie Gonyea went to be with the Lord last week. Bernie played steel in Norther New York with various groups for many years. After the passing of his wife Margaret, Bernie lived with his family in the Houston Texas area. A high point in his steel guitar life in recent years w...

Sleep Walk Steel Player
Thanks guys. The video was the same one I had, but I was looking at it on Riff Station, and the resolution was awful. Interesting some of the things steelers get involved with.

Sleep Wlalk Steel Player
Came across a video of The Ventures doing a version of Sleep Walk. The steel player had his name on the apron in script. It said Jeff B with the rest of the letters illedgible , at least in the video. Does anyone know the guys name? He looks like an rocker with coke bottle glasses, hair down his bac...

I think I started with the pedal steel about 97 or 98, can't remember for sure. I'd already been playing the resonator guitar since 87, and had messed around with a lap steel. So I guess a little over 16 years, and I was in my mid 50's when I started. I told my wife the pedal steel was my middle age...

I've seen Rhonda perform in person a number of times at various bluegrass festivals going all the way back to her days with her mom, and dad in The Sally Mountain Show. Watching, and listening to Mike in person is still up there in my bucket list. It's always a treat to see both of them for sure, in...

I didn't think that learning the pedal steel made reso playing easier at first, but after several years of playing both, I feel very comfortable switching back and forth. One seems to make me a better player on the other A few years ago I put a McIntyre unit inside a 1975 Dobro I'd acquired but wasn...

Steeler for Trace Adkins
Does anyone know who plays steel guitar for Trace Adkins? Saw the band on live TV Friday morning. The steel man was older than the rest of the 20 something band, and had what looked to be a beautiful laquer D-10 Show Pro.

My watch has a soft band that straps up tight. I practice with it all the time, and it doesn't catch on anything C6 neck included. I shut my cell phone off at gigs. I use the watch to tell me when the break is almost over. I like to get back a little ahead, and check my tuning before we crank up aga...
