Tuning question

I have a Bakelite Rickenbacher and I have a tuning question. In open E if I tune all the strings to a tuner ( you know where I'm going with this ) the third string, G# is sharp.:) Is this normal with these? I temper the tuning (adjust the G# to the chord) but playing a drone string and barred note o...

Richenbacher lap steel wiring diagram site

Can someone steer me to the Rickenbacher site/page that has wiring diagrams for the Bakelite lap steels. I didn’t bookmark it and now I can’t find it. Thanks.

National Dynamic Lap Steel

I have a late 40's National Dynamic. Do any of you have experience with changing out the tone control assembly with something that gives you more options tone wise. I know that the pick up is a single coil but I've heard of using a 250K or a 500k potentiometer. What's your experience? Also any advic...

There are some outrageous asking prices and they mostly don't sell but sit. I look at it this way. The price of well known guitars from the 30's to the 50's is much more than the well known laps steels from the same era. The lap steel models on LP's, CD's and in concert that turn me on are attainabl...

Thanks for the tip, I put a lubricant on all the tuners gears, put new strings on and it tuned right up. I've got a 46 on the low string and if I hit the string moderately hard it hits the bottom of the top horseshoe. I've got the horseshoe as high as possible. Eventually it will be tuned to a high ...

It has pretty old thin strings on it. I plugged it in to an amp just to see if it worked. Good clean tone, ...

New Fender lap steels

I've been ought of the loop on lap steels, but is fender making new lap steels? I went to their site, couldn't find anything, but found this on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fender-DELUXE-8-STEEL-GUITAR-White-Blonde-E-Guitar-Brand-New-8-String-HC-Japan/323468240109 Are they still making them, how d...

Lindley's sound

I have a video of Mr. Dave playing with Jackson Brown in the 70's from a tv studio concert. In it Dave switches between a Telecaster and his lap steel. The amp looks like tweed deluxe. The sound stays virtually the same. I've always assumed that his basic sound then comes from the amp and is flavore...

What value and type should the potentiometer and capacitor be in a 1950's Supro Lap steel? Thanks

Lap steel build

I'm in the process of building an eight string lap steel. I'm looking for a single pole (stringmaster?) type, but noiseless. No batteries, it will be string through the body construction. I'm looking for a vintage sound hawaiian/swing, but I also like David Lindley. I'm a dobro player so I'm used to...
