Joe Goldmark is the real deal, a totally one-of-a-kind item. NOBODY sounds like Joe, his tone, sound, and approach to steel are SOOOO refreshing. You may want to check out Neil Flanz's recording circa 1961 of "Danny Boy" from his instrumental album(he has 2 GREAT steel albums). Neil told me he took it right out of the Jimmy Day-Buddy Emmons song book!! For C6th fans, the GREATEST version ever done was by Curly Chalker on Charlie McC...

Buddy IS sporting his Bigsby. The steel's legs were too short so Buddy had to accomodatte his long legs by placing the volume pedal to the right of the Bigsby's legs, not underneath the steel!!

Buddy Emmons recorded it on E9th!! He just makes it sound like C6th!! Just like when Buddy Emmons cut for the Gatlin Bros band "Houston" and "The Girl Goes For the Bartender", he did those "C6th sounding licks" on E9th. It was Buddy Charleton that told me Emmons did it ...

Buddy has had so many GIANT intros, turnarounds, and solos that it is truly difficult to determine his "BEST". EVERYTHING he touches is gifted to my ear. When he cut "Half a Mind" with ET (by a neophyte unknown writer Roger Miller in 1957), Neil Flanz mused,"Jerry Byrd is no...

Bobby Garrett is known as the "King of the Thumb Style" on his HOF plaque. When I told Buddy Charleton Bobby was going into the Hall of Fame, he said,"I thought he already was!" Charleton said to me, and Garrett confirmed, that when Bobby was on steel for ET, Emmons on guitar, he...

Buddy Emmons in st. Louis 2003!! Are You Coming!

Johnny Bush called me at home last night, after he had called Herb Steiner first of course (does the Buck Owen's song "Second Fiddle" come to mind?), and told me that 3 hours earlier he had talked to the "BIG E" and said to him "Well Bud, I'm going to sing in St. Louis this ...

Bobby Garrett was and is one of the GREATEST E9th and C6th steel guitar players of all time. Most are defined by a single neck and Bobby like few others have defined themselves by both necks.
