Congratulations to Dr. Wayne on receiving the Presidents award at the Dallas show. Couldn't have gone to a more deserving person!!! He is a TRUE and FAITHFUL friend of our beloved instrument. In his acceptance of the award he gave credit to Frances (his Mom) for his interest in the PSG,,,(Hey Dr. Wayne,,,we're kinda partial to her too!!) I'd like to thank that family for including us as in their circle of friends.

I first met Wayne when we both lived in Omaha in l977. He has always been the kind, generous and loving friend that I knew back then. Congratulations on this recognition, Wayne! You are the steel guitar community's best friend.

This recognition is overdue. Wayne is the consummate steel guitar lover and supporter and all around nice guy. Not only does he attend many of the shows and host events, he also works behind the scenes to insure that everything runs smoothly. He is the steeler's friend, and I'm glad to say that he's my friend too. Wayne, way to go!

Joe

P.S. We should move this post to the main section so all of Wayne's friends can enjoy it.

I first met Wayne when Scotty introduced us at the Hall Of Fame Motor Inn in Nashville back in 1984. He has been a very dear friend to me and his love for and devotion to the steel guitar and it's many players is unsurpassed. He is most deserving of this award.

I'm so glad that Dr. Wayne Yakes received this award. Like Chuck Lettes, I've known Wayne for many years and there is no one that contributes and supports the steel guitar world more than he does. And he has been the president of the Medical Association and has written many books on health. He currently travels the entire world as a consultant and doctor for many patients. I called him once and he answered and was in China. I even have a photo of him and his wonderful family with an audience with the Pope! And such an down to earth guy but can get very serious when a medical problem arrises. Scotty

Doctor Yakes is a GODSEND. He really loves steel guitar and the people who play them. He has sure helped one member of the TSGA. What a difference in the man from last year to this year. When Bobby Garrett was so ill, Dr. Yakes was right there doing all he could for him. He is very deserving of the Presidents Award. Love ya Doc. Jody.

Thank you one and all! Al Talley, President of the Texas Steel Guitar Association, was so kind in allowing this award at his magnificent 25th Anniversary Texas Steel Guitar Convention. Al also did a beautiful job of honoring so deservedly Mr & Mrs Charlie Norris for their great contribution intiating the Texas Steel guitar Convention. I owe Al and all the steel guitar family a great debt of thanks. My life has been so very blessed by steel guitar players and the steel guitar community. Steel guitar players are a talented and unusually kind group of individuals that I have had the great privilege to know and call dear friends. My dear friend Scotty is the Prime Mover of this entire steel guitar fellowship and we ALL owe him and Mary our sincerest gratitude as well. Thank you so much Sonny, Danny, Chuck (best man at my wedding in 1989!), Joe, Stu, Neil, Scotty, Jody, and Bob for the kind words. I am so very humbled by this.
Sincerely,
Doc Yakes
