Use with an Alembic F2 preamp and some Bag End cabinets and get your Grateful Dead on! My thoughts exactly. But 'ol Jerry and them used solid state Macs, the 2300 (300 watts a side :whoa: ). And Birch ply cabs made by Alembic now offered by Hard Trucker. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commo...

You're seeing reflections of other objects in the room including the person taking the photo of the bar. Since the bar is round the images tend to fish-eye.

Great story indeed, aside from the losing a wife and kid part. I can't even imagine how hard that would be. Anyway, just to report back, the speaker sounded incredibly raspy on the high end when pushed just the slightest bit. I assumed it was blown so I passed. The question as to whether or not it ...

Godfrey, Yes there is a save function. But if you have a whole bunch of user presets and then there's a problem that can only be fixed with a reset or initialization to factory you would lose all user presets. You could write all the info down and re-enter it but in the MPX1 there are just a ton of...

I played through one three nights a week for about three months in 1986. The other guitar player loaned it to me as everything else I had was blown up or even less suitable. I was mostly playing a Telecaster Thinline with the two humbuckers. And using a Peavey Musician head. It didn't have tubes in...

I have two separate speaker cabs with a 4 ohm 15" speaker in each. So I was hoping to plug one into the right and one into the left output on the 500 Not going to happen as per the minimum requirements of the amp. Running 2x4 ohm speakers in parallel will create a TWO OHM LOAD. Amp will be on ...

Unless you're planning on putting a cabinet on two ends of a stage, you would be better off just using one cabinet @ 4 ohms. Are the two cabinets set up to run "SERIES" into each other? If not you'll be getting the same connection as connecting two 4 ohm speakers to the back of your 500 he...

It was marketed by Music Man in the literature of the time as a general purpose cabinet. Different than a bass cabinet. http://www.pacair.com/mmamps3/sites/default/files/docs/MM%201977%20Amp%20Catalog%20m.pdf Read all about it. The RH 115 is a bass guitar cab with a bass reflex port. It would depend on how tight you want your sound and if you don't mind port noise . Might be loose on the bottom end for PS guitar. The speaker is one thing, the cabinet is another. https://images.reverb.com/image/upload/s--zg6KLnw2--/f_auto,t...

Everything affects everything. Cables no matter the cost or build all affect the signal. Even the power generation from your outlet is never exactly the same day to day, hour to hour. Your ears are different every day you get out of bed. To think you can narrow down to a specific set of equipment is...

Does it HAVE TO be a tube amp? I have a Quilter Steelaire, which is solid state, and sounds just fine. The staple steel amps were the Peavey solid states. Something to consider is an "immediacy" of reaction between solid state and tube when playing and picking. I would think solid state i...

It would depend on the speaker specially if its open/closed back. If you heard your Celestion in an open back cab and like the sound then leaving the back off the Hot Rod cab would get you in similar ball park. A Fender Twin, Deluxe etc are open back and steelers have used them for years. It's about...

When I entered the business in 1981, our studio had three Neves: two 8058s (33102s) from 1979 and an 8024 (1073s) from the mid-70s. They were such smooth consoles. All three of them now live active lives in other studios. I met Rupert Neve at the 1984 Audio Engineering Convention. You was a nice gu...

Some would say, "use the force" and just use your intuition. If you use headphones enough you would be able to tell using those. It's hit and miss and will always be a little different per song. Here's guide clip made by my friend Brian Wampler. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcnXKXIZxLg
