Mary Wilson of The Supremes has passed. They were a major musical force during me era (The 60s).
A couple D-10s,some vintage guitars & amps, & lotsa junk in the gig bag.

Image July 4, 2001, Tommy and I went to Stone Mountain Park early for his POP GOES COUNTRY show with Albert Coleman. (Atlanta Pops Orchestra). They were midway through rehearsal when a limo drove up to the stage area, and Mary Wilson got out of the limo with rollers in her hair. Her band was unloading their equipment. Mary stepped over to Tommy’s steel, and asked what his instrument was called. He told her it was a pedal steel guitar. She told him how much she liked the sound, turned to her guitar player of 10 years, and said, “Can WE use this in OUR show”? He gave a thumbs up, and then asked Tommy if he wanted to play their show with them after his show with Albert. Tommy looked at her funny and asked who she was, because she hadn’t been to make up, and had huge rollers in her hair! 😊. She replied that she was Mary Wilson with the Supremes. He quickly apologized and said he would love to sit in! The guitar player nodded for Tommy to take all his rides through the whole show!
At the end, she thanked him from the stage, and asked him what his name was! He did a wonderful job, and the crowd loved Mary Wilson for her kind gesture! She was an icon!

Godspeed Mary.

I saw you with Diana and Florence in the mid 60's when Motown and The Supremes were exactly that.

A sight and sound to behold as these goddesses stood on stage all by themselves with the band off stage.

Donna, what a cool story about Tommy playing on Mary's show. Only Tommy would be the right guy for that. What a memory.

Donna thanks for sharing your story about Tommy. That is Awesome! I always liked the Motown Music! They were so talented The Supremes, The Temptations,Jackson 5, The Funk Brothers Studio Band, Mary Wells, Smokey Robinson and others. Barry Gordy the Producer, the guy who was responsible for so much of that Music was a Genius! Thanks for sharing all of this!
