At 76 I’m still Rockin but I am Running out of steam.

I’m not playing out as much as I was just three years ago. I don’t practice much on steel but I pick a guitar up every day while I’m watching cowboy movies on tv. I feel for you fellas with serious health problems. I haven’t noticed a problem with tuning on steel or guitar, some of ya’ll might tell ...

The One And Only

Met b0b at the Phoenix show when I believe he had just received his new Sierra steel. He truly did love to talk steel guitar, and The Steel Guitar Forum is a resource we all enjoy because of him. Thank you Sir!

Just saw this about Fred

I always would hangout with Fred in Dallas, Phoenix, and Baxter. Good natured, funny, and a fantastic steel player. I never could play his setup on his personal steel. That he could get a tune out of that thing was a miracle to me. But if you ever heard him play you knew he was Top Notch.

Emmons For Me.

Having started out with the Emmons set up my ankle just won’t work with the Day setup. One of the highlights of my life was getting to play with Jimmy Day and Dave Rich at a friends church in Dallas shortly before Jimmy passed away. I sat down behind the Mullen Blue Darlin and couldn’t play the ...

The LTD.

I’ve been playing thru my Black Widow equipped LTD for a year and it’s a great sounding amp. Doesn’t take up much space and leaves room for a Fender guitar amp. Plenty of clean volume in a small package.

I played in Rudy’s bluegrass band in the early ‘80’s. He was a fine dobro player, and I just never had the money to have him build me a guitar. He had a cool shop in Wanette Oklahoma and smoked fantastic ribs in an old homemade ice box smoker. You shouldn’t have any problem at all selling th...

I Think it’s Called Confidence.

The people that are exceptionally talented musicians know they can produce in any situation. I always admire the things Paul and my favorite piano player of all time, Hargus “Pig” Robbins come up with. Experience and a great ear are the two things most of us don’t have.

If you will send it to Grover they will replace it for the price of postage. I’ve had four keys replaced off of my steel and different guitars. They guarantee all of their keys and it doesn’t matter how old they are.
