I'd "shoe shine" sand it with 400-600 grit sandpaper until you can run your fingernail over it from side to side and it feels completely smooth. That should solve your problem. That being said, if you play a couple hours a day, those strings have lost their life before they're 3-4 weeks ol...

Duncan, By "aluminum neck," I mean just that, not referring to the guts of the guitar. I should also mention that I tune JI, use temperment comps on 1 and 7 attached to A pedal, and have pitch return comps on all strings with a raise and lower, similar to PF. At one time I tuned more or le...

It's well known that aluminum neck guitars generally have more cabinet drop/raise than maple necks. I'm sure it varies by make and individual guitar also. I've had 4 maple neck Williams steels. None have had greater than 2 cents E9 cabinet drop with AB pedals down.

My new Williams wide body S12 4 X 5 extended E9 weighs 25 lbs. In the case it's 41 lbs. If you get Kevin Hatton to make split cases, you could lighten up even more. It's a lot of guitar for 25 lbs, and beautiful too with laquer body and neck. Service from Bill Rudolph is tops. You need parts, advice...

Nice Roger! I just got a wide body S12 a few months ago. You'll be astounded at the sound and clarity of the new changer, especially in the lower register. Great choice of Alumitone pickup too!

I've used both Stringjoy and NYXL. I feel they're nearly interchangable. If you use custom sets, Stringjoy will do that, NYXL won't. Both excellent strings.

Roger,
I received my new Williams S12 a few months ago. The new Williams changer 4 over 3 with annodized fingers has a presence and a "growl" you won't believe. It's a work of art. You'll be very pleased.

Pitch return comps solve the problem. I have them on all strings with a raise and a lower on my Williams guitars. It becomes a non-issue. I know PF has them on his guitars. I don't know why all pedal steels aren't made with them. This is an issue which affects nearly all guitars. I think 2-3 cents m...

I spoke to Bill Rudolph at Williams Guitars. They've changed case companies to a new provider but their case orders are backed up for any other than those for Williams Guitars. I was hoping to get one in 2023.

Just got my new Williams Ext E9 S12 5 X 4 a couple of months ago. I changed my C pedal to raising both B's to C years ago. My LKR raises 4 and 8 a full step so A and B plus LKR is my version of the traditional C pedal but with added versatility of being able to add and subtract LKR while A and B are...

George L stopped making pedal steel pickups. If it's not in their inventory, you'll have to find a used one. I just bought the last two 12 string EON's. Try calling them directly, and they can tell you for sure. They're concertrating on their cables and other items.

No better way to learn than Paul's course. I wish something similar had been available when I learned many moons ago. I suggest you also learn some music theory. Otherwise you'll miss a lot of context on many of the lessons.
