Dozens of VHS Tapes: Should I Donate Somewhere?
I was given an impressive collection of tapes, mostly from 80s and 90s. Dozens of pro steel players, including the best known. Three boxes, about 50 VHS cassettes (I haven't counted). I need to clear out some space in my basement. Examples of titles: 1999 Steel Gtr Hall of Fame Benefit Show, 1988 &a...

Help needed tuning 6th string B pedal.
I have an E9th with standard copedent. I'm unable to get the 6th string to an A (+4). When I screw in the vinyl hex to raise the B pedal pitch, the open 6th string also tightens and the pitch raises too far (above G#, -4). I've fiddled with the metal hex stopper bolt at the string end changer, but n...

Goodrich 120 Pedal: No sound
After my last gig, I unpacked the pedal at home - and no sound at all. Looking at the insides, all connections seem intact. The pot hasn't been giving me any trouble (e.g. scratchy sound), so I don't know cause. Can pots just go suddenly dead? Ideas appreciated!

Any new album recommendations?
I'm keen to hear newer recordings!
Primarily interested in folk and alternative country.
Not interested in commercial 'new country' sound.
Thanks for your suggestions!

Strings Buzz caused by? (mid-neck to pickup)
The buzzing happens between mid-neck and pickup. Most strings buzz.
I'm pushing down firmly with the tone bar. To stop the buzz, I really have to push down hard.
Maybe my strings need changing?
I'm a beginner, so wondering.....
Thanks,
Michael

From Pedal Steel to What Next?....(e.g. Dobro?)
I love playing the steel at a weekly bar jam. We also have an ACOUSTIC jam at a cafe. I'd like to be able to join in on the country-folk-rock tunes. So I'm wondering what might be an instrument to learn for this (besides 6-string guitar - which I already know). I'd like to use some of my psg skills ...

This is awesome info. I should have known about the relative minor to major scale! This really makes playing minor key much easier than I anticipated. Thanks all!

Tips for Beginner Learning Minor Keys?
The DVDs I have don't cover minor scales/keys. (I learn much quicker from seeing, rather than reading text descriptions - so I prefer videos.) Does anybody know a video for minor scales? Also, for playing in a major key, the Nashville Number system was real easy to understand as a beginner. I've mem...

Which popular BLUES standards to play live?
I'm a newer player. Enjoy playing at open mics where we play mostly country-folk-rock. A lot of locals really like the blues, but not so much country. For you experienced players, which 5-10 BLUES songs should I know...........based on being commonly requested and played live? I figure this is a goo...

Great suggestions so far. With the Zoom, I assume you can easily stomp to your pre-set effects? That is, no fidgeting on stage? I had a Digitech RP50 that did that was very easy to use. However, it was a little noisy and died after only a couple years of light use in my studio. Not getting one of th...

Multi-Efffects Pedal?
Would like to travel light. Just a volume pedal plus a multi-effects. The multi-effects is desired to tailor my sound to the particular song I'm playing with the band - which tend to vary between rock n roll, blues, country and reggae. Thus in addition to the standard reverb and delay, some distorti...

Tips to learn how to improvise solos?
I've been playing about 18mos and really enjoying. I feel comfortable playing along with live performers (keeping up with chord changes, short fills, etc.). I continue to learn different positions for scales. However, when it comes time to improvise a solo, I'm very challenged. My instructional DVDs...

Change Strings How Often?
I'm just a closet player, so not fussing about tone too much (although I am seeking to get out and play with folks). It's been a year since I changed the strings. I'm wondering how often folks tend to change, and how long the 'new' tone might last.
Thanks,
michael

Newer Volume Pedal Static - Pot already?
I bought the Goodrich pedal new only about 6 months ago. I'm hearing static when pedal is pressed. Is it the pot, or maybe something else?
Thanks,
michael

What Should I Learn Next? (a beginner)
I've only been playing psg several months - and loving it! I've learned some rudimentary topics (major & minor chords, scales, A,B,C pedals, palm-blocking). (I have Band-in-a-box for backing tracks plus some tabbed licks. Neither of which I've dived into yet.) Any advice on what I should concent...
