Thanks to all for the comments and suggestions. Gives me quite a bit to think about. No hurry to sell, but I just think it's a shame for this amp to sit around and not be played. Ricky Davis. Yes. Marvin Hudson is my father and he and Leonard started Marlen steels. This amp came from the shop in Rei...

Thanks to all for the replies. I appreciate all the input. I know for certain this amp is all original except for the maintenance done last year. My father, Marvin Hudson, and a friend, Jackie Dee Parrish, went to Leonard Stadler's shop in 1970 and purchased twin Twins as they had just come in new t...

Re: Twin

Hi Steven, I'm not a buyer since I live in Texas, but I have a couple questions that may be of interest to a potential buyer: 1. The Fender decal has the tail which seems to be what they used on the blackface Twins. But clearly, you have a silver face amp. Did it come this way or was the decal repl...

1970 Fender Twin Reverb value

Considering selling my 1970 Fender Twin silverface. Been stored in house and not played much for 25 years. Just had maintenance on it last year. All power supply caps replaced. Tubes tested and one weak one replaced. Works and sounds great. Very clean and comes with a hand made quilted cover by an a...

Charles The base wasn't a big deal to remove. The brackets turned out good. Just need some adhesive backed felt to finish. They are slightly larger than the legs. I also changed the design slightly and added another hole 90 degrees from the other so it gives 2 axis' to adjust the tilt. Removed the p...

Re: Not so fast...

Thanks to both of you. That takes care of that issue. The feedback is very welcome. Not so fast... Won't you also need a set of shorter pull rods? That or a hack saw, file and a die to cut new threads? Not so easy if the rods are chromed! :whoa: :x  If you have to buy them Michael at PSG Part...

Thanks Jerry. I had found that site. I just wasn't sure if anyone had used this company. Decent price for 4 legs. I guess I'll try the chrome over alloy.

Pedal Steel Legs

I recently purchased a 2001 Marlen S-10. While I love the steel, it's a little high for me and my short legs. I am looking for suggestions as to where to purchase new legs. Thanks.

I have a Zum Encore. The rear legs had an extra inch I could lower them. It didn't bother me at all to have the steel leaning towards me. I eventually sent the front legs and pedal rods back to Doug to shorten them an inch. I am glad I did. Much more comfortable than any other work around I tried.

Here is a picture of an early 60's Marlen. Probably one of the early ones built. The biggest difference I see is the endplates. Mid to late 60's the "curled" endplates. Cabinet looks to be in good shape.

Thanks for the cool story. It would be nice to know the history. You mentioning Leonards store caused a nice memory.

Jerry. You're right. Those are the end plates that were used in the mid 60's. I haven't seen that inlay before. I read on a forum thread that Duane Marrs used to upgrade older Sho-buds with his own changer after he left Sho-bud. I wonder if he could have put a new changer and worked on the undercarr...

I would stay away from Music Go Round also. I believe that is a Marrs fretboard. May be a Marrs or a Sho-bud that Marrs upgraded. Marlen used musical notes for fretboard and I haven't seen that inlay on a Marlen.

I switched to the GHS nickel strings because they fit the tone I was looking for and they have been great. You can order GHS strings from Doug Palmer too. He can be found on the forum.
