Jam Session?

Post by George Wixon »

I'd like to get into a jam session or get one started. Nothing big or any thing fancy.
It used to be that about 20 years ago you could go to the local music store and post a 3x5 card on their notice boards which most all of them had but after visiting a couple in my area i've found that these boards are not around, or at least at the stores I went to. I've only been playing steel for about 7 months now and would like to get more experence with other players (live instead of backup tracks). My question is where else do you go or what else can anyone suggest for finding a session or getting one going.
Regards to all,
George

George, down here in NC there are a couple of local jams that I attend . One is at a small local music store on saturday afternoons sponsored by the store . The other was started by a guy who just wanted to get things going. He found a local social spot which he must be a member of and has just started friday night jams, open to the public for free. No pay, no door charge, no liquor. Maybe you can take matters into your own hands. The music store jam I attend has opened up many doors for me as I have met many new players and friends. Each week the music store jam has at least half dozen players and a few singers showing up. I don't attend every week but maybe every few weeks.

Good luck
