Carl, enjoyed your playing and band last evening. Thanks for letting me sit in. It was an interesting "twelve string experience". Hope to jam again soon, Ray.

Ray, the pleasure was mine. The 12-string usually scares a lot of people off but you set right down and did a fine job. Look forward to seeing you again.

Carl: Nice comment on the 12 string scenario. I've noticed that a lot and it really does scare some guys away. The old logic of; well Buddy can do anything with 10 strings; is long gone. Twelve just seems to fit the bill so well on both the 9th and 6th tunings.

Being a fan of Bill Stafford's music and Julian Tharpe; I guess the only question now for me would be: 14 ?? !!

I'll be 70 in a few more weeks; I've got a lot of time left to ponder on it !! But I still recall walking down a street in Belleville, IL as an 18 year old GI and seeing a ten string lap steel in metallic blue in a music store window. I couldn't believe it ! I just stood there and kept counting those strings over and over again to be sure I had it right.

I've often wondered if someone from that area didn't get that guitar and make some beautiful music with it !!

Regards, Paul
