To Carl D.
Carl, enjoyed your playing and band last evening. Thanks for letting me sit in. It was an interesting "twelve string experience". Hope to jam again soon, Ray. <FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Ray Satterfield on 05 January 2002 at 02:32 PM.]</p></FONT><FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Ray Satterfield on 05 January 2002 at 02:36 PM.]</p></FONT><FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Ray Satterfield on 05 January 2002 at 02:40 PM.]</p></FONT>

Carl: Nice comment on the 12 string scenario. I've noticed that a lot and it really does scare some guys away. The old logic of; well Buddy can do anything with 10 strings; is long gone. Twelve just seems to fit the bill so well on both the 9th and 6th tunings.
Being a fan of Bill Stafford's music and Julian Tharpe; I guess the only question now for me would be: 14 ?? !!
I'll be 70 in a few more weeks; I've got a lot of time left to ponder on it !! But I still recall walking down a street in Belleville, IL as an 18 year old GI and seeing a ten string lap steel in metallic blue in a music store window. I couldn't believe it ! I just stood there and kept counting those strings over and over again to be sure I had it right.
I've often wondered if someone from that area didn't get that guitar and make some beautiful music with it !!
Regards, Paul
