New Years resolution:
To practice harmonics the first fifteen minutes of every practice session,___no exception. The finger harmonics on 5,7,&12 (Rose City Chimes, etc.) come easy. But I anticipate palm harmonics, like a Navy F-14 pilot anticipates a night carrier landing. I begin thinking about the harmonics at the beginning of a song and think, "hear come those harmonics", right up until I have struggled through them.
Does one really have to be cross-eyed to play good palm harmonics? I can't look at the fret where the bar is positioned and the fret where I'm picking at the same time.
I am convenienced that those recordings that have seemingly perfect harmonics are done with a group of coordinated musicians striking different size triangles for each note;___kidding of course.
Actually the F-14 pilot snags a cable more regularly than I hit a good harmonic.
Anyone got any new ideas on practicing harmonics?
